After recording its first increase in the past year and a half in April, Chevrolet Colombia sales again suffered a significant decline during May. Last month’s notable double-digit contraction implied a new commercial setback for Chevrolet, with a volume drop of 410 units year-over-year, as well as a drop for the firm from third to fourth place among the best-selling brands in the Colombian market in the period.
Chevrolet Colombia’s overall decline in May was the result of lower sales of a dozen models, including the best-selling Chevy Onix line, which experienced a slight decline. Among those that performed the worst were the Chevy Tracker, with a notable drop of almost 50 percent and 141 deliveries, the Isuzu-based commercial truck line, and the Chevy Colorado – which registered the highest contraction rate of the month.
Only four low-volume nameplates managed to increase their sales, including the Chevy Bolt EUV, Chevy N400, Chevy TrailBlazer SUV, and the Chevy Traverse – which together were barely able to add 31 additional units compared to May 2023. Among them, the most notable was the all-electric crossover in the subcompact segment, which obtained the highest growth rate and significantly expanded the improvement in its deliveries in the South American country.
