As the first two-seater convertible Cadillac model since the 1930s, the Cadillac Allanté was designed to allow Cadillac to better compete with the likes of Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz. Produced from model years 1987 to 1993, the Allanté was mildly successful, and sold roughly 2,700 units per year over the course of its lifespan. Now, a 1993 Cadillac Allanté Indy 500 Pace Car has been listed for sale in Nashville, Tennessee.
Posted online for just under $15,000, this Caddy luxury roadster appears to be in good condition in spite of the 98,000 miles on the odometer, while a red interior contrasts very nicely with a white exterior paint job. Interestingly, the dealership offers up no documentation on this Allanté.
With a quick glance over the exterior, we find the Indy 500 pace car graphics adorning on each side of the luxury roadster, which is a dead giveaway that this Allanté is unique. Of course, as a roadster, the hard and soft tops are a big draw, while factory chrome plated alloy wheels are wrapped in a set of Vouge Custom Built tires.
An interesting piece worth noting is that the body of the Allanté was designed and built in Italy, which was then shipped over to Detroit for final assembly.
Moving to the interior, everything is as what one may expect from a GM luxury car of this era, meaning lots of buttons and sharp corners. However, one notable spot in the cockpit is the unique gauge cluster, along with the pass-through to the trunk.
Under the hood is something truly special. Here we find the naturally aspirated 4.6L V8 L37 Northstar gasoline engine, rated at 295 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. What makes this powerplant unique is that it’s the one of the first mass-produced DOHC V8 engines that General Motors installed into a vehicle.
Output is routed to the front wheels via the GM four-speed automatic transmission.
So, what do you think of this unique piece of Caddy history? Could you see yourself forking over the cash for this 1993 Cadillac Allanté Pace Car? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below, and be sure to vote in the poll.

Cool retro car.
Though the actual pace car color combination was Pearl Red with a tan interior from what I recall, I think these were the same as the 1986 Corvette convertible Pace Car where every car got the decals in the trunk regardless of color combo.
That Allante aftermarket ground effects kit is probably pretty rare.
Came here to post the same thing. The official pace car was red.
Having sold at a Caddy store in Nashville (Brentwood actually) back in 2013, when I saw this I thought it may be one from the owners collection. At least it looks like one he had. But it’s not his unless he sold it to this other dealer who’s selling it. Anyhow, very nice car and great fun to drive.
I had a `90 and `92. Great cars. the `93 had the Northstar engine which was a big deal back then. They never lived up to the competition with Mercedes, but I liked the fact that it wasn`t one. The the body by Pininfarina was conservative and elegant.
The Celestiq should be redesigned by Pininfarina (as a full line with coupes, sedans and convertibles) so it looks more elegant and sophisticated instead of the current Nouveau Riche look. Always enjoyed watching “JR” drive his Allante on the hit TV series Dallas!
The price seems a bit high for the mileage, we have a 1991 in all black we paid $6000 with 35k miles in 2020, we do not have the hard top which is unfortunate. We have put about $2500 into it for mechanical issues , still under $10k and very happy with the car. It’s very cool and a lot of fun to drive!!!
Pretty sure this is not a pace car. All the pace cars were Pearl red. You can buy the pace car decal sets from GM separately. Now there were quite a few parade cars made, something makes me think between 25 and 50. Very few pace cars and again I’ve never seen a white one nor with red interior. And this is not a ground effects kit, the black lower panels were painted. Maybe it is a pace car, and they painted it and change the interior. That would be complete heresy. Very fishy to me particularly with no documentation
LOL. Reminds me of Kelly Bundy from MARRIED WITH CHILDREN episode modelling the ‘New Allante’ ‘.
Would consider trading some guitars for this car
I have owned 2
I’m looking to sell mine
In 1993 Cadillac offered approximately 1000 Pace Car edition, all in special red color, NO white and NO Ground effects plus 3 Allantes provuded Indy 500 had decals only on passenger side that spectators would, car presentation was sooo well received that Cadillac privided each dealer at least one unit thus Pace Car edition ….
