Chevrolet has announced the official fuel efficiency rating for the Canadian 2016 Cruze. With a rating of 5.6L/100km (roughly 42 mpg – like in America) highway, the all-new Cruze is the most efficient vehicle in its class. The top-of-the-line Cruze Premier sips just a little bit more with a rating of 5.9L/100km.
This class-leading efficiency is thanks to the 1.4L Ecotec four-cylinder which features standard stop/start technology to enhance efficiency for city driving as well. Compared to the previous model, which came with the 1.8L four-banger, the new Cruze shows an improvement of 18 percent on highway and 26 percent in city driving.
“The all-new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze is a more efficient and sophisticated evolution of the brand’s best-selling global car,” said Laura Pacey, brand director, Chevrolet in Canada. “The next-generation Cruze elevates the segment with innovative safety and technology features that are accessible to compact car customers.”
The Cruze’s fuel consumption rating for the LS and LT models  topples the competition, including the Ford Focus (6.0L/100km hwy), Nissan Sentra (6.1L/100km hwy), Mazda3 (5.7L/100km hwy), Hyundai Elantra (6.3L/100km hwy) and Volkswagen Jetta (5.9L100km hwy – non-hybrid).
Aside from being the segment leader in fuel-efficiency, the Cruze is also the most connected car in its class, thanks to OnStar 4G LTE Wifi and connectivity features including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Let’s not forget all the optional safety features either, including Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist and Forward Collision Alert. It’s no wonder that the Cruze is Chevrolet’s best-selling vehicle worldwide. And with the new hatch on the way we expect its success to continue.
