If you’re like us, you’ll approach this video with a certain measure of skepticism. How on earth could even a tuned a Cadillac CTS-V get up close to a proper thoroughbred: the Porsche 911 GT2 RS?
Yet here we are. Granted, as the video’s description warns, this clip was taken toward the end of a hot day, when the tires on both cars were pretty well worn-down. Still, one would expect the tires on the 4200 lb. Cadillac to be worse for the wear, so to speak.
The Cadillac chases down the Porsche 911 GT2 RS on the Auto Club Speedway track, and keeps on it through about 3 and a half minutes of continuous track driving. While naturally, you may wonder if the Porsche was actually driving at anywhere near nine-tenths, the Stage 4 Competition Kit from tuning company D3 Group Inc. claims to bring the power up on the CTS-V by about 250 horsepower, so we’re going to say it’s entirely plausible that the huge, overweight Cadillac did indeed chase down the Porsche on its own volition.
That’s Americans: 1, Germans: 0, for those keeping score.
