Lingenfelter Performance Engineering Currently Developing Chevy Silverado Performance Packages

Chevrolet has been quiet about possibly offering a beastly SS version of the all-new 2014 Silverado. Probably because they won’t be doing anything of the sort. However, it’s good to know that there are some third-party tuning companies out there ready and willing to fill that void. One of them is Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, one of the best in the business when it comes to powering up a GM Small-Block motor.

LSXTV reports that they’re currently using a 2014 Silverado engineering mule with its 5.3L EcoTec3 motor as a test bed for Gen-V Small-Block tuning research. We can’t wait to see what happens next.

  1. If they do something, a new grill would be in order — the Ford Raptor doesn’t share the regular F150 grill. It needs to be noticeable and say “WOW”.

Automotive News has an LED Mercedes emblem that you can buy aftermarket…..maybe an OEM version of the bowtie or an SS logo ?

  2. still trying to figure out why GM went to 1984 for a styling reference, not really a popular “retro” year…

Might be a hint of ’89 in there too…

  3. Meh sounds tame, I’m hoping Callaway will do their SC540 6.2 Sport Truck magic across the new platform as they did with the GMT900s … it will no doubt put to shame any performance upgrade Lingenfelter might do on a 5.3.

  4. With the F150 Raptor on the other side of the aisle, I wouldn’t rule out a SS Silverado this generation. Likely, GM is being quiet because they want to sell what they have right now.

One thing GM has said they will improve on, is tapering down on leaks. I know that hasn’t actually happened in several circumstances, but it would be odd for a SS to not show up this generation – truck sales are strong again, and demand for a performance low-end unit is there.

My father’s Titan is up for termination, and the top truck on his list is an F150 Raptor. I would love to offer him a GM option to take a fresh look at.
