Though there was relatively no bidding between the second and second-to-last day for the online auction of the second-ever Chevrolet Volt destined for retail (the first one is being kept by The General), the digital gavel slammed down on a price that left many jaws hanging wide open: $225,000. All of the proceeds will go to the Detroit Public Schools Math and Science Departments.
What else could you get for that kind of paper? Definitely a decent house in some states, or perhaps two 638 hp Corvette ZR1 supercars. Or – in the case of the DPS – lots and lots of calculators, textbooks, computers, and beakers. At least we think so…
