2015 Cadillac CTS-V Sedan Spied Again, Now With WOT Engine Note: Video

It’s been a year since the redesigned Cadillac CTS debuted, but we still don’t know much about the CTS-V. Sure, the Vsport is keeping us at bay for the moment, but we’re an impatient bunch and tend to have an affinity for the fastest models like the CTS-V.

But now we have spy video of the next-generation CTS-V in action. According to KGP SpyPhotography, the test mule has aggressive front and rear fascias with a grille resembling that previously seen on a prototype ATS-V. So, like the previous model, the third-gen V will have distinct design cues all its own.

We can’t say much more about the 2015 (2016?) CTS-V—will it be twin-turbocharged or supercharged?—without incorrectly speculating and having it go viral, so for now we’ll just loop the below video with the speakers up high.

  1. Thank god it’s still supercharged. This thing’s gonna be a beast. And finally GM decides to give it quad exhaust, thank you.

    1. I’d take a NA V8 over a boosted engine. If they had an NA engine capable of 600hp that would be amazing. But as it is, this car will likely come with a slightly detuned LT4.

      1. The LT1 is capable of 620hp and torque w/o forced induction, it’s been done several times already, but the power falls quickly once you get to 5000ish rpm.

        1. That was likely a cam swap, not the more reliable choice for a factory production engine and you lose nice low end driveability. Not a good option for a production car.

  2. Supercharged, without doubt

  3. We can argue Supercharger, Turbo or NA all day but Cadillac needs a version of this engine not shared with Chevy.

Cadillac is saddled with a very good Chevy engine which is a good thing but they need their own version of it to make it their own. Sharing this engine is something they have to do as in todays market there is little room for low volume engine at below $150,000. But they can do like they did with the 3.6TT and make an engine that belongs to them in tune and dress.

Dress the engine in powdered coat and stainless fasteners and lose the plastic cover. Also make it have more power than the Camaro. Like it or not a TT set up would give them a very good appeal globally and also set it apart from Chevy.

Even with a very good Chevy engine it makes Cadillac look like it is just taking a Chevy engine and using it vs. giving the customer something special a Chevy guy can not get.

The key to Cadillac’s future is to make their cars more exclusive from the rest of the GM line. While they must share platforms and basic engine designs they still can make these their own and offer the customer some exclusivity.

That is what has hurt Cadillac in the past. It became a car that anyone could buy and park in front of the rec hall at the trailer park. Making the car special and more expensive will yield more profits at lower volumes and give it more image.

Porsche found this out in the 80’s and Ferrari protected itself by limiting product for years. What attracts many people to these cars is that they have something others want but can’t have.

  4. with the YT volume all the way up and earphones on i’m hearing what sounds ALOT like a supercharger whine at the :30-:31 mark when the driver accelerates hard which is followed oddly by what sounds like a turbo spooling up at the :33 mark. So basically forced induction is DEFINITELY going on (which most if not all of us knew would be continued)…the question is WHICH ONE?! Aaaaaah man we’re going to have to wait for another spy video like this to (hopefully) popup with perhaps a closer shot or clearer audio. Every time a new set of spyshots or a video of this thing pops up its like a tiny lil christmas to me, “oooooh! aaaaaaaahhh! What did they capture of it today!”

  5. I STILL Highly doubt the V-series cars are getting vertical bar grilles, especially when the normal cars are losing the vertical lines on their grilles. This is definitely just part of the camo, after all, the normal CTS had one when it was testing.

  6. Generally most new superchargers are pretty quiet anymore. Same for the Turbo chargers.

The reason I do not think it may a turbo is no one has reported a waste gate pop yet. Now they can make them quiet too as in the 3.6TT I have yet to hear anyone comment on it.

In fact the wastegate on the HHR SS and Cobalt SS were adjusted to make them more noisy and appealing to the gear heads. Even with the added noise mine is still pretty quiet.

  7. Turbo car… that’s not roots blower / supercharged noises.

THIS is what a supercharged / roots blower car sounds like (My 2011 CTS-V)

  8. A real question for me is, just when will this car be available? (Irrespective of whether it’s an 2015 or 2016; turbo or super.) I have searched high and low but without any true insight.
