Brand-New 2023 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 Pickups Still Available

Originally introduced for the 2022 model year, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup is the ultimate choice in all-electric, off-roading goodness. Since then, the Hummer EV continues to impress with its astounding capabilities, and yet, there appears to be a few brand-new 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 units still available.

Following a quick inventory search, there seems to be roughly 50 units of the 2023 Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 still up for sale on U.S. dealership lots as of the time of this writing.

This is quite an intriguing find, as quite a few fully loaded units of the 2023 model year are still up for grabs, and across the country, there are over 1,100 available units of the 2024 model year as well. Meanwhile, the start of regular production (SORP) of the 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and 2025 GMC Hummer EV SUV is currently scheduled to start on June 24th, 2024.

On the other hand, sales of the all-electric pickup exploded over the course of Q1 2024. More specifically, there were 1,668 units sold during the fiscal quarter, which was good for a roughly 82,000 percent jump from the year prior. Notably, this allowed Big Red’s electric truck to place third overall in regard to GM EVs, where it was outsold by the Chevy Bolt EV and the Cadillac Lyriq.

As a reminder, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup is powered by GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motor technologies, where the range-topping Edition 1 model is capable of delivering up to 1,000 horsepower and roughly 1,200 pound-feet of torque.

In regard to structure, the Hummer EV Pickup rides on the wide-body variant of the GM BT1 platform, which it shares with the aforementioned GMC Hummer EV SUV. Of course, the narrow-body version underpins the Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV. Meanwhile, production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, previously known as the GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant.

  • Bad branding. First, the average purchaser of an EV will think that the average owner of an old style Hummer is a moron. That's certainly what I think any time I see one of the few POS still on the road. They're ecologically at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Second, apparently no one at GM doesn't know what "Hummer" means. It's like one of those mistakes where in a foreign language a brand name is a swear word, but this is a company not understanding slang.

    • Not my experience. I've owned one for 20 months and only been to the dealer once for a warranty issue. No problems whatsoever.

      No gas stations either, just plug it in at night.

      • What do you think fuels the power station that charges your Hummer EV?
        Most likely natural gas. You know, the stuff that is extracted with oil and gas.

        • My big solar array charges mine. Is clean energy an unknown technology in a particular demographic?

        • Nothing against natural gas, but mostly nuclear and renewables where I live. The coal plant closed years ago.

        • Well, at least your comment is not as incorrect as some on this site, who try to claim it's largely coal. But as your "most likely" statement basically notes, the answer will vary by utility, or even by house as a response here notes (solar powered house).

          North of Seattle there's a large PUD whose power is 95% carbon free.

  • I live in the Seattle area (where there are tons of people with the excess income required to purchase one of these abominations), and you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting an EV, but I’ve never seen any variant of the Hummer EV in person. I would actually hope there are as many of these immensely wasteful products sitting on dealer lots as possible.

    • I live in the Seattle area too, and I remember seeing a lot more of the original large Hummers back in the day. Haven't noticed one of these yet, but that is somewhat typical of newer vehicles. I haven't noticed a third generation Colorado/Canyon yet either.

  • I happen to love Humvee's in all their previous forms. This EV Hummer nonsense is an absolute abortion and it makes me sick every time I look at it. It's a great looking truck but it's completely useless to anyone who needs/wants a utilitarian vehicle. Too bad GM is run by a compromised, government owned idiot who doesn't get cars, people who like them or why. Holy moly if this thing had a Duramax/Allison drivetrain in it there would be a 4 year wait for one and I'd be on it. Instead GM Authority has to run sponsored "please buy our leftover inventory" articles for a truck that's only been out 2 years. If I missed the mark that hard at my job I'd have been fired without a golden parachute. Mary's done it 15 times now and they keep letting her run the company into the toilet. What's it gonna take to get somebody competent back at the wheel GM!?!?!

    • How could this be? Didn’t GM say the Hummer EV was “sold out” for two years and they had 100,000 reservations? How could they have so many in inventory then and have 2023 models? This information must be wrong. The relaunched Hummer has been a huge success for GM I believe.

  • Love my 2023 edition 1, incredible vehicle. Only issue so far is a rear bed cover that sticks every once in a while. Fast as heck, quiet, smooth.

  • Its funny the Toyota people always find a way to try to put down GM products. The funny thing is when people call it a abomination I think the opposite. I see a massive car, gets a great ride, can go off road and gets the same millage as a Toyota Prius 50 MPGE. So basically saving you 5k per year on gas from a regular truck. See if Toyota can do that, the answer is absolutely no.

  • I live in SoCal…the West Side where you see cars like these…people love them!!! People with money especially…so it’s not for the average Joe, thank goodness. Quite hating on things you can’t afford to buy yourself…stick to your Toyota Prius’ and Honda Accords. These things are leased and have extended coverage for the dealer to fix whatever the problem is while they loan the customer a Cadillac Escalade or GMC Yukon Denali.

  • Wouldn't it have made more sense building a $25-35K small EV or gas sedan for the general population? Something to compete with all of the Kias, Hondas, and Toyotas that are currently killing it in that segment.

    You know, a volume sales import fighter...

    • The Hummer EV isn't a volume sales fighter. Never was and never will be. Did you think it was supposed to be?

      From the start it was said to be a halo vehicle so that other product lines could be derivative of.

      You'll see your budget Ultium vehicle soon enough that you can afford.

        But while nobody seemingly wants a Hummer EV, gm can't make or supply what people do want?

        Check around your town next time you're out. Go ahead and count the hundreds to thousands of small 4-door sedans running around....new and older.

        GM really sees no need to focus on that segment, instead of building the answer to a question nobody asked?

        What a market segment to ignore...good grief.

        • Everyone who wanted a Hummer EV has them already. That's what the inventory lot numbers say. I have mine and am happy with it.

          GM won't scale EV production up for reasonably priced vehicles due to all the ICE entanglements and workforce agreements (see union protests).

          So you're stuck with what's there. The Chevy Blazer EV made it out which should be in reach for most.

  • GM has overestimated demand for this overpriced 10,000 lbs. road destroyer. Maybe they will sell if they are discounted by about $50,000.

  • I'm not here to argue but I would like to put my two cents in. I am just an average Joe and I love the Hummers, the old and the new. I had a 2006 H2 that I bought for my birthday in September of 2005 and I was talked into selling it in February of 2015. I cried like a baby because I knew it was the biggest mistake I was ever going to make. I missed that car more than any car I've ever owned. Fast forward to 2020 and I came into some extra money and I was able to buy another H2 in pretty great condition. I love the comfort of sitting in the driver seat. I've never found a more comfortable driver's seat in any car that I've ever been in, like the Hummer H2. I am definitely interested in buying the new one at some point, but right now I don't like how plastic it is on the inside and I'm not a big fan of All electric. Hoping for a hybrid.
