For perspective buyers looking for a midsize pickup truck that can handle the rigors of off-road shenanigans, the GMC Canyon AT4X is certainly a good place to start, offering a bevy of all-terrain goodies. However, it appears as though the 2024 Canyon AT4X’s beadlock-capable wheels are currently unavailable.
GM Authority has learned that the LPO – or dealer-installed – 17-inch Beadlock Capable aluminum wheels (RPO code SMU) option is currently unavailable to be ordered on the 2024 GMC Canyon. Normally, these rollers are offered as a standalone option on the AT4X trim level.
It’s worth noting that these wheels were previously part of the $7,850 Edition 1 package on the 2023 Canyon AT4X. However, they are not offered on any other trim level, and can’t be ordered in conjunction with the Canyon AT4X AEV Edition.
Pricing for the beadlock-capable wheels as a standalone option has yet to be announced.
As a reminder, the Canyon AT4X takes the midsizer’s go-anywhere attitude to the next level, featuring a factory lift, ultra-wide front and rear tire tracks, 33-inch tires, underbody skid plates, Multimatic DSSV shocks, front and rear e-lockers, and a Baja drive mode.
Further upgrades can be found in the interior, where the AT4X sports a two-tone red and black leather upholstery, an 11.3-inch infotainment system touchscreen, head-up display, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system.
Under the hood, the GMC Canyon AT4X features the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Output is direct through a 4WD system through the revised GM eight-speed automatic transmission.
In regard to structure, the Canyon rides on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, which it shares with the 2024 Chevy Colorado. Production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.
