The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq hit a major production milestone in October 2022. With 2,000 units built during that month, more units of the Lyriq have been manufactured so far in 2022 than the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup.
During October 2022, GM produced 2,000 examples of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq at its GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. This means that October 2022 production represents almost 54 percent of Lyriq units built since the beginning of the luxury crossover’s production, which commenced in March 2022 and has yielded a grand total of 3,715 units produced as of October 31st.
October 2022 is the fourth month in a row that GM built more units of the Cadillac Lyriq than the Hummer EV Pickup. This comes a result of GM favoring Cadillac Lyriq production over the Hummer EV, with Lyriq production ramping up at the expense of GMC Hummer EV Pickup production.
The most likely cause of this inverse relationship was GM’s limited supply of Ultium battery cells on hand, with more resources dedicated to the Cadillac. It’s also worth noting that Hummer EV production was idled for a month as the GM Factory Zero plant received upgrades in order to build future products such as the Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV.

Notably, the table above does not include production numbers for the BrightDrop Zevo 600 delivery van, which also utilizes GM Ultium batteries.
Due to the launch of the first Ultium Cells plant in Ohio, battery pack supply is increasing. As a result, more Cadillac Lyriqs were built in October 2022 than any other month prior. This rise in production is quite apropos, as pre-orders for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq are completely full, with GM forced to extend the waitlist to the 2024 model year.
As a reminder, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq receives output from the GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors, while under the skin, the all-electric crossover rides on the GM BEV3 platform.
