After its official debut in South America earlier this month, the Chevrolet Groove has just gone on sale in Chile – the first country in the world to market the brand’s new model. During a special presentation event, the local subsidiary of General Motors confirmed the Groove’s arrival, seeking to strengthen its leadership and further expand the wide range of Chevrolet utility vehicles in the Chilean market.
In fact, the arrival of the new Chevrolet Groove makes Chile the country with the largest offer of SUVs and crossovers by the Bow Tie brand in the world. Chevy’s utility vehicle lineup in the Chilean market now includes a total of ten models: Groove, Tracker, Spin Activ, Captiva, Equinox, TrailBlazer, Traverse, Blazer, Tahoe and Suburban. The Groove becomes the most affordable crossover in the brand’s history.
“The new Groove arrives to strengthen our SUV segment in the country, with a wide range of products to continue meeting the needs of our customers,” said Sales Director of GM Chile, Gustavo Colossi, in a press release. “This new model will be key to exceeding market expectations with a great combination of price and quality,” he added.
Based on the successful Baojun 510 that leads the entry-level utility segment in China, the Chevrolet Groove was designed to serve those looking for their first crossover at the best possible price in more than 40 emerging countries in Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and other regions. In particular, the Groove aims to attract younger customers with an unbeatable combination of design and technology at the lowest price on the market.”
The Chevrolet Groove lands in Chile in two trim levels, LT and Premier. Both feature a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter inline-four engine that generates 110 horsepower and 108 pound-feet of torque, mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission in this market. In other countries, it will also be offered with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that simulates eight gear ratios.
The new small crossover stands out for offering the most extensive technology and safety equipment in its segment, with striking features such as an infotainment system with eight-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, LED lighting, an engine start button, a rearview camera, sport leather seating, four airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, Automatic Braking and automatic climate control.
The 2021 Chevrolet Groove is already on sale in the Chilean market, and during three weeks of pre-orders, it exceeded GM’s expectations for its first month of sale. As a matter of fact, the automaker had planned to sell about 200 units in that period, but even before reaching dealerships, more than 500 units had already been ordered. Shortly, the crossover will begin its gradual launch in other countries. Pricing for the Groove in Chile is as follows:

Why GM? why?
Why Chevrolet left INDIA, these cars would have been huge hit here in INDIA market. Chevy needs to make a comeback with these new models.
So GM is selling their cars at an affordable cost in other countries and here in the USA we are paying through the nose check this comparison out. In Chile the new 2021 Chevy Groove LT: 9,690,000 CLP (about $12,530 USD at the current exchange rate) 2021 Groove Premier: 10,690,000 CLP ($13,825 USD) How much for the similar car in the USA called the Chevy Equinox $35,000.00 and up. or the Chevy Trailblazer. Why isn’t the Groove being introduced here in the USA?
