Chevy Low Cab Forward sales increased a four percent for 1,423 deliveries during the second quarter of 2024 in the United States.

Chevy Low Cab Forward sales continued a positive trend here halfway into the year during Q2 2024.
The second generation of the medium-duty truck is a partnership between GM and Isuzu Motors, announced in June 2015. The Japanese automaker develops and builds the trucks, with GM providing some components, including gasoline engines.
The LCF lineup was joined by the Silverado MD (medium duty) chassis cab trucks introduced for the 2019 model year. These trucks succeeded the Chevy Kodiak, which was discontinued in 2009.
The LCF lineup is now also sold under the GM Envolve brand, which offers a full program of tailored solutions, providing high-tech management for both ICE and electric vehicle commercial fleet operations.
This past spring, Isuzu announced that its F-Series trucks would get a battery-electric powertrain, which could possibly see its way into the Chevy LCF lineup. However, GM appears to be mostly or exclusively interested in advancing its Hydrotec hydrogen fuel cell technology for commercial vehicle use.
On all fronts, The General continues to expand its automotive and truck offerings for commercial and business applications to keep customers coming back.
The 2024 Chevy LCF adds two new gasoline-engine-powered configurations, the 5500 HG and 5500 XG, to the two diesel powerplants currently offered.
The naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, which is also equipped on the Chevy LCF 3500 and 4500 series trucks – renamed as 3500 HG and 4500 HG, respectively – develops 350 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and 425 pound-feet of torque at 3,800 rpm. However, while the 3500 HG and 4500 HG utilize the MYD GM six-speed automatic transmission, the new 2024 Chevy LCF 5500 HG and 5500 XG will inherit the MW7 Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission.
The new 2024 Chevy LCF 5500 HG has a GVWR of 17,950 pounds (8,142 kg), while the new 2024 Chevy LCF 5500 XG has a GVWR of 19,500 pounds (8,845 kg).
The 3500 HG’s GVWR is 12,000 pounds (5,443 kg), while the 4500 HG’s is 14,500 pounds (6,577 kg).
The closely related 6500XD has a GVWR of 29,500 pounds (13,381 kg) and is designated as a Class 6 vehicle.
FInally, the 7500XD has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 33,000 pounds and a gross axle wheel rating (GAWR) of 21,000 pounds at the rear wheels, making it a Class 7 vehicle.
