Here’s When 2023 GMC Yukon Production Will Start

The 2023 GMC Yukon is the third model year for the current fifth-generation full-size SUV, debuting a selection of changes and updates as compared to the preceding 2022 model year. Now, GM Authority has learned when the start of regular production for the 2023 GMC Yukon is slated to begin.

According to GM Authority sources, the start of regular production for the 2023 GMC Yukon is scheduled to kick off on July 18th, 2022. Production will once again take place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

One of the most impactful changes introduced by the 2023 GMC Yukon is the debut of the Yukon Denali Ultimate trim level. Framed as “the most premium Yukon ever offered,” the Yukon Denali Ultimate is equipped with a selection of both exterior and interior upgrades, the former of which include unique 22-inch seven-spoke wheels and Vader Chrome trim, while the latter includes Alpine Umber full-grain leather upholstery, Paldao woodgrain trim, and the optional GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system. To note, the 2023 GMC Yukon will not be available to order with the GM Super Cruise system at the start of regular production.

Another notable update for the 2023 model year is the deletion of three exterior paint options, specifically, Satin Steel Metallic, Hunter Metallic, and Cayenne Red Tintcoat. In their stead, the 2023 GMC Yukon will introduce four new hues, including Titanium Rush Metallic, Frosted Pine Metallic, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, and Sterling Metallic.

As for the greasy bits, the GMC Yukon is offered with three engine options, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 383 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 277 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. Providing the underpinnings is the GM T1 platform.

  • I find it interesting that GM is promoting their Yukon Denali Ultimate, yet last week they cancelled two Denalis I had on order. GM stating they are no longer building the Denali and do not have a date of when it may resume. Very frustrating.

  • Corporate double speak. Can you imagine paying for the Denali ultimate and not have the automatic cruise control available. GM is in trouble. I have been waiting 6 months to spend $79,000 on a Suburban with the modern safety features and I was called by my dealer last week saying my car would not be manufactured in 2022 and hoping I would buy a “ similar” one without the cruise control. The answer is NO.

  • Been waiting 7 months for an $85000 yukon, does not look like it is going to happen. At this point I don’t think GM wants my business and prefer I go elsewhere. Very frustrated as I am sure so many others are.

  • We have been waiting since Feb 3 2022 on Yukon Denali. Just got a call said we are getting a base 2023 Denali. Don’t have a date on delivery yet.

  • Good luck Casey, I sincerely hope it works out for you. I wonder what a "base" is. Unbelievable that gm can not supply what they are advertising. I say this sarcastically, "sounds like a good place to start a business" LoL

  • I’ve been trying to order a 2023 Yukon At4 and I’ve been told they are only offering the 5.3 and the diesel. The dealer also told me they have not released any pricing on the 2023?? This is so frustrating

    • I have yet to see firm pricing but my AT4 was supposed to go into production this week (fingers crossed) I’m hopeful but it doesn’t sound to promising reading these comments

  • Why isn’t there any news on the the Arlington Plant having issues with shipping out ready to go Yukons? I’ve had a Yukon Denali sitting in the quality control lot for weeks. Updates from the dealership say that there’s not a part or chip issue. It just hasn’t been invoiced, absolutely no ETA for shipping, as we now get into the 6th month of the year. All the dealerships tell me the same, they can’t get the Yukons they’ve ordered that are already built and ready to go. Been waiting on my Yukon to ship since the middle of April. It’s built and just sitting there going on 8 weeks now. 2023s are going to start production soon.

    • This is my exact story Katherine. Very frustrating but the response I have gotten from my dealership and GM has been the same as yours. Are they really in the car selling business?..

      • Same with mine. Ordered 4/04 and it was built 5/12! still no information on the "chip" its missing. Very frustrating to say the least

  • I ordered a Yukon Denali Ultimate 2022 model but wanted the premium cruise option, (which now will be a 2023 model) in September 2021, 9 months ago , GM has not picked up the order from the dealer as of this week , and still no delivery date.
unbelievable , almost a 100k vehicle with a willing purchaser and they cannot deliver.

  • We ordered a 2022 Yukon Denali loaded with diesel. The order was placed March 5th and nothing yet.we aew getting very frustrated. $90k and not a word from GMC.

    • I ordered a 2022 Yukon on November 29, 2021…told yesterday that it’s rolling into a 2023 and will cost more. I am thinking about canceling because GMC is going to charge more for same build.

  • Production starts July 18th, anyone know when ordering will start? I’ve got low expectations but going to try to order a 2023.

    • I placed an order a few days ago with my dealership. Lots of constraints still. Built a basic Denali (no packages are available), added sunroof and power retractable steps, and 22 inch premium wheels. No pricing available and had to order it with the sale rep on the phone. Other dealerships that I spoke to wanted me to submit an online build, which only shows 22’s and doesn’t show constraints, so I’m hoping mine will get picked up quicker but I’m still dumbfounded how my 22 that’s been ready since mid April has been stuck in a quality control lot since then. No ETA on when it’s suppose to ship.

      • Thanks, I will try again to place an order today. I was told 2 weeks ago order books were not open. Best of luck on your order!

      • No pricing available is ridiculous. What’s their excuse on that? Couldn’t get a price on my trade in so i sold it outright then told my 2022 Yukon couldn’t be built in the color I ordered. Think I’ll test drive a wagoneer this wk.

      • Mine was ordered April 4th and complete 5/12. Been sitting since then waiting for “the chip”! Very very very frustrating to say the least

    • They’ll take your order & deposit now but I wouldn’t recommend it. I did that on 4/11 for a 22 & was told 6 wks later it has never been “picked up” & Id have ti change my color to begin building it.
