The 2023 GMC Yukon is the third model year for the latest fifth-generation full-size SUV, introducing a few crucial updates and changes over the preceding 2022 model year. Among these is the deletion of three exterior paint options.
According to GM Authority sources, the 2023 GMC Yukon will delete the following three paint options (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):
- Satin Steel Metallic (G9K)
- Hunter Metallic (GED)
- Cayenne Red Tintcoat (GSK)
All three paint options were previously available for the 2022 model year. Satin Steel Metallic and Hunter Metallic cost an extra $495, while Cayenne Red Tintcoat cost an extra $645. Hunter Metallic was also a new color for the 2022 model year, and was only available for the 2022 GMC Yukon Denali trim level.
Going forward, the 2023 GMC Yukon will introduce four new exterior paint options, including:
- Titanium Rush Metallic (G6M)
- Frosted Pine Metallic (G6N)
- Volcanic Red Tintcoat (GNT)
- Sterling Metallic (GXD)
As announced previously, the 2023 GMC Yukon will also introduce the new Yukon Denali Ultimate, a fresh range-topping trim level framed as the “most premium Yukon ever offered.” Highlights include unique Vader Chrome trim bits, model-specific 22-inch wheels, Alpine Umber full-grain leather upholstery, and genuine Paldao woodgrain interior trim. The GM Super Cruise driver assist system will also be offered as an optional upgrade.
As a reminder, the 2023 GMC Yukon will be available with three engine options, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 383 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 277 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. All three engine options connect to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission.
Under the body panels, the fifth-generation GMC Yukon rides on the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

Just curious. WHO decides on these colors? Is it GM only or do you get opinions from the REGULAR public? Just asking because that LIGHT BLUE color on the Cadillac cars looks horrendous. Does NOT go with that car at all. Not at all luxurious. Then again, I’m guessing Cadillac is more about building high horsepower racing cars these days!😢😢😢😢😢
Gm def needs to change up their colors often, i waited 3 extra years to order one only because of their fugly color choices, they need dark teal, black cherry, rich deep dark purple plum, four different shades of grey is not going to cut it…get with it gm
what r the colors going to be in 2023 .is there any pearl colors coming soon.the color im referring to you had on gmc yukon.im currently driving a 2017 chevy tahoe and im looking to upgrade to a new tahoe or yukon. preferably the yukon .thx geo g
Why cayanne red tint coat? There best color!! Dam it🤬🤬
Another dramatic news bulletin of colour change from the Executive of GM.
I wish they would concentrate on other topics such as holding increases to a minimum, how to improve warranty coverage, solving the chip shortages, and put their colouring book away. I would be curious on what salary the colour magician gets paid to add colours, and drop colours. That has to be a very tough job !!
I ordered a satin steel metallic from Ed Martin GMC of Carmel 6.5 wks ago with allocations I text to check on it 4 days ago Got a call today that I can no longer get it in that color but they can start production immediately if I choose another color. I’m cancelling as I only chose that yukon for the sating steel metallic color. Waste of 6.5 wks for me. They had the allocation but I was warned by others they were pulling this stuff to get orders. I sold my white diamond suburban the day I listed it. Memorial day weekend car shopping for me!
Ray Skillman (stock), Ed Martin (inbound) have satin steel metallic Yukon… look up dealer inventor online… using your zip code
Any Mohr has a satin steel mettalic Yukon in stock
I’ll try them but every time I find one it’s black interior which I really don’t want but also the websites show they have them but they’re typically in transit & already someone’s vehicle they’ve ordered.
Update-So it’s an SLE (means cloth seats) for $73,000. I had orders SLT (in a walnut/slate leather, loaded) for $64,000. Just infuriating.
Barf! My grandpa would love these colors… but he is deceased! Quit choosing geriatric paint, do they not see all of the awesome colors of Broncos and Sequoias? We have always been a GM family but I have been looking at other SUVs because I am so tired of the only sport option being black or grey.
Why dont they let us vote on some colors?
TO ALL, we take the time to add our comments, complaints and suggestions. However I am convinced that the most senior Executives of GM, along with the Board of Directors, the President and CAO, don’t give two cents to what the loyal GM customers post. To the ” ELITE GM BRASS” they don’t even read our posts as they are so stuck on themselves, taking home millions of dollars in pay and bonuses, to them we don’t exist. Some day in the future we may read that GM is bankrupt again and the Govt. won’t bail them out with our tax dollars. Unfortunately by then, it will be too late to get GM Customers back to buy the vehicles they once did. The Executives of GM will be gathered at the golf course wondering what went wrong !
That is something the GM Customers will know, as we see it coming now, but the high priced help won’t as they can’t organize a two car funeral today ! ” But they can change paint colours every week ” !
Chevrolet has announced a new red called Radiant Red Tintcoat and a new gray called sterling gray metallic. Are these the same colors with different names as the ones listed in this article? This is confusing.
