Refreshed 2022 Silverado High Country In Northsky Blue Metallic: Real-World Photos

The fully refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 made its grand entrance in September, showing off a long list of upgrades and changes over the pre-refresh 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited and 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. Now, we’re taking a look at the refreshed 2022 Silverado High Country in Northsky Blue Metallic paint with the following GM Authority Real-World Photos.

We previously caught the 2022 Silverado High Country out on public roads in Silver Ice Metallic paint with a Crew Cab / Standard Bed body configuration. These new photos capture the range-topping trim level in the Crew Cab / Short Bed body configuration, as well as an eye-catching shade of Northsky Blue Metallic paint.

Up front, we once again find the 2022 Silverado 1500’s revised fascia design, as well as a High Country-specific grille that incorporates a series of horizontal grille slats with a polished finish. High in the nose is a gold Chevy Bow Tie badge, while in the corner of the grille is the High Country script embossed into the uppermost horizontal slat.

In the upper corners of the 2022 Silverado’s grille are refreshed horizontal lighting elements, which are underlined by C-shaped LED lighting signatures and dynamic turn signals. Below this is a set of air curtains the enhance the truck’s aerodynamic performance and fuel efficiency, replacing the “sideburn” air curtains equipped by the pre-refresh Silverado.

The lowermost portion of the fascia combines a silver faux skid plate and silver tow hooks, as well as a black air dam.

In the profile, this 2022 Silverado is rolling on a set of two-tone wheels, with a darker finish for the inner spokes, and a polished finish for the wheel’s outer lip. A High Country badge is placed in the front fenders.

Fixed chrome running boards run along the lower edge of the profile, leading back into CornerStep cutouts in the bumper. The rear end also incorporates Chevy’s Multi-Flex tailgate feature. Finishing it off is a set of integrated exhaust tips with squared-off shape and polished finish.

Under the hood, the refreshed 2022 Silverado can be had with one of four engine options, starting with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine (which now produces 20 percent more torque for a maximum of 430 pound-feet), followed by the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax.

Providing the bones is the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Silao Plant in Mexico, the GM Fort Wayne Assembly facility in Indiana, and, in the near future, the GM Oshawa Plant in Canada.

    • I hate the grills on both GMC and Silverado, when’s the next refresh? Also, put the mirrors back where they belong and fire the assclowns who designed these.

  • Now we just need to fix the engines so they can at least compete in mileage and power in the case of the 5.3, ditch the crap 8 speed and get some vehicles on the lots. Is this so blasted hard?

    • I ordered the same exact model/color/wheel setup as in the image above, with the 3.0 diesel engine. Should be good!

      • I did the same with the max tow package and standard bed, also blue&blk interior. This is enough to get you excited. Good luck with your truck 😎👍

    • Looks plain. Why for the 1st time in 34 years I ordered a Gmc Denali Ultimate. With high country you cant get premium Bose sound system or the power massaging seats?? My Chevy dealer says they are always the red headed step child of Gm. Look what they did with tailgate

      • HC comes with Bose, no massage seats. Ill save the $15k with HC vs Denali ultimate for no massage seats. Not discounting the ultimate tho, its really nice. But $80k yikes!

      • Chevrolet is the backbone of GM, not sure what your dealer is talking about. If anything, GMC is the misfit as it’s basically an internal competitor to Chevrolet with very few differences. High Country has Bose speakers as Ryan pointed out, the massage seats and “styling” are the only differences I’m aware of between it and the much pricier Denali Ultimate. Makes the GMC a pretty bad value if you ask me.

  • I ordered mine in this exact color, wheels and Duramax on 1/17. I received an order number contacted GM and was told its scheduled for production week of 2/28. I asked the dealer to confirm which they did. I'm hopeful this is going to happen but with GM recently you just don't know.

  • On the other specific gm forums, owners have had not one but two ATF drains an refills under warranty and no more complaints. In fact, once they've changed the ATF, they really like their vehicles.

And other manufacturers, Honda, also suffered transmission shudder and their fix...change ATF. If the owner didn't complain, Honda would change the ATF during a free oil/filter change and not tell the owner to reduce complaints. From a friend of mine, Honda tech. Honda calls it preventive care and therefore not undermining DOT policies...

Back to the article, looks good in that color, but my favorite is the Cherry Red.

  • Yikes - that chrome trim bar along the side?
I generally like the refreshed front end . . . but in these pics those black plastic areas under the headlights look unfinished and cheap or something.

  • My 2022 2500 HD High Country was produced in late Oct 2021! Still sitting in Flint MI.
    Nobody can tell me why!!!!!!!

    • It's because nobody can even tell us why. We keep on getting the same BS excuse that they're having transport issues with the carriers, and we get stuck with no ETA on these things. Our dealer has 6 2500 HDs that have been built and sitting at the plant since December with no ETA. They all just say Pending dispatch.

  • This new front end looks like something Honda designed. That thick chrome trim above the squinty lights is their signature trademark. And all that flat black plastic? The face of last years truck especially the headlights look better than this one.

        • Ya, I thought same thing, but then I went to Chevrolet's website and it gives the exact same truck in great pictures with fog lights on. Kind of neat because it should save them a bit from being damaged by road debris.

          • My truck showed a build date of 2-28 until last week. Now shows no build date. Hope it has only moved back a week or two. Ordered high country with diesel and Sun roof. Traded my 2021 LTZ because I wanted to try the diesel and the new blue interior.
