The fully refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is here, arriving with a variety of changes and updates over the preceding 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 and pre-refresh 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited. One of the most important upgrades for the 2022-model-year refresh is a new exterior treatment, and now, we’re taking a closer look at what the 2022 Silverado 1500 High Country in the following GM Authority Live Photo Gallery.
This is our first look at the refreshed 2022 Silverado High Country out and about in the real world. This particular model is rolling out in a Crew Cab / Standard Bed body configuration, which is draped in what we believe to be Silver Ice Metallic paint, a classy shade that looks good on the range-topping High Country trim level.
Let’s start with the front of the vehicle, checking out the revised front fascia styling introduced with the 2022 model year refresh. The 2022 Silverado High Country incorporates a new grille design that’s specific to the High Country trim level, composed of multiple horizontal styling elements that stack up across the central intake in a quartet of silver bars. The gold Chevy Bow Tie badge is mounted high in the grille between the first and second horizontal grille slates, while the corners of the horizontal bars have larger “notches” that visually tie in the rest of the fascia. The top of the fascia also incorporates a metallic trim strip that has the High Country logo subtly embossed at the top of the grille.
The lighting elements are high in the fascia with slim housings, once again incorporated into the horizontal design scheme. The lighting in general is a vast upgrade over the previous lighting used for the 2019 through 2021 model years, incorporating new LED signatures, as well as dynamic turn signals.
Lower C-shaped lighting elements feed into the lower air curtains. These new air curtains once again offer enhanced aerodynamic performance for greater fuel economy, but don’t have the same visual impact as the much-maligned “side burns” seen on the pre-refresh model.
Lower in the front fascia, we spot silver tow hooks, which jut out from a black lower fascia plate, while a faux skid plate element continues the polished lip down into a black lower air dam.
Moving over to the sides of the vehicle, we see a set of 22-inch Sterling Silver Premium Painted wheels with Chrome Inserts. These rollers incorporate a split five-spoke design and lovely finish that does well to complement Silver Ice Metallic paint. The style also pulls in a new metallic strip that runs along the lower section of the cab, further offsetting the silver and polished trim bits, such as the window surround and the door handles.
Also notice the fixed chrome running boards (available today), which seem to reflect light up onto the lower body panels. The running boards take the eye rearwards into the rear bumper, where we spot CornerStep cutouts providing access to the bed section. The taillights bracket the 2022 Silverado’s Multi-Flex tailgate.
In addition to a pair of CornerSteps, the rear bumper section also has two lower indents to accommodate a pair of chrome exhaust tips.
Stay tuned as we pick apart every detail of the refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500, and make sure to subscribe to GM Authority for more Chevy Silverado news, Chevy news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.

Front end looks better, tighter fitting…
Yeah, but the whole trick is starting to look like a Ford now!…
Exactly an older model Ford

Due to “moderation”
Is what it is down voters! 😲
I haven’t been the biggest fan of the current Chevy/GMC trucks. However, after looking over the pics in the Toyota Tundra article the other day along with the revisions to this new Chevy, it’s looking a lot better! haha.
What’s wrong Dan you don’t like the huge tv in Toyota 😂
Holy mother of miracles are they actually putting a nice piece of chrome trim on the sides like Dodge has been doing all along on the higher end Limited trims? It’s about time they added a little pizazz back in with today’s dull monotone done to death vehicles. The revised front looks promising too! Now they just need to drop that garbage 8 speed and rework the 5.3 for an additional 25-30 horses.
Where have you been? The 5.3, and 6.2 been running 10 speed transmissions, and the mini duramax will be running the 10 speed for 2022.
Where have you been? Did you even read what I said? I stated the 5.3 needs to be reworked for more power not that it doesn’t have a 10 speed transmission. The std 2.7T still uses the 8 speed transmission even for 2022. That is what needs to go and all engines should have the 10 speed as std.
I am waiting for the 4×4 regular cab long bed work truck configuration.
Looks like an F150 at first glance.
You may want to upgrade your eyeglass prescription.
No. I think he’s right! (‘ ‘)
See above!
Have fog lights gone out of style? Gone from the Tahoe, Corvette, now Silverado 🤔
What are you talking about? They are still there… pay attention to the very bottom of the bumper… see those two squares on either side?
Here is a better pic:

Oh I see now, behind those slats in the faux skid plate thing.
It has fog lights at the very bottom
Wow! I like it! Good job, Chevy!
I guess the designer couldn’t find the center of the grill. Would look better with no emblem rather than all the way at the top… IMO
The bowtie is centered on the vehicle, not the grill.
We all know what Richard Zapala’s point is.
It’s as like they moved it for no reason.
The high Bow-Tie looks good on the ZR2, should have been centered here. I remember an article about the Suburban and Tahoe’s where it was stated they moved the Bow-Tie up to blend it in with the height of the headlights for a cleaner look.
Gorgeous!!! Has anyone seen the updated RST yet? These new trucks are classics already in the look department
Front end looks like a crab or a lobster with those headlights, side really makes the front look short and whale like, and the rear looks like a tundra
Finally an article about a new car or truck that doesn’t feature and praise a “more aggressive front end”. Maybe we will finally see a decline in the wish to terrorize pedestrians and smaller vehicles. Toyota has revealed its new Tundra – and it has high reliability and a nice rear cab electric window, butr aside from that has reached a high point of aggressive grill uglyness. If the lower trim levels of the Chevy look anywhere near as good they will sell well and Toyota will be doing an upgrade dance, no matter their reluctance to change things on trucks.
I love the Toyota reliability bs. Early on broken crankshafts in Tundras, excessively rusted frames throughout the line up that need to be totally replaced.Yet if it were Chevy it would be non stop news . Give it a rest because last time I looked no Toyota dealer was built without a service department.
Look again larry because you are wrong
My Dad has a ’21 High Country with the retractable side steps in Iridescent Pearl Tricoat. IMHO, the ones shown here are so big and clunky, they look like sheets of plywood attached to the truck. Why not a nice tubular style as an option?
The standard assist steps on the 2021 High Country are what’s shown here, and you have the option to upgrade to the power assist steps or opt for a different set.
I’m well aware of that. What I am saying is why GM doesn’t offer more than two options. My Dad has had ’99, ’08 and ’14 Silverados in the past. All of them were available from GM with a tubular style step, which he ordered. Hey, it’s just my opinion. If some people like the big and clunky steps, that is their deal. Everyone is different. Cool! 🙂
You can order a tubular assist step on the truck from the factory on the 2021. It’s not the standard equipment, so there will be a cost involved, but it will be on the window sticker.
Thank you for the info.. I found them under the “Accessories” tab. I was looking under the “Build and Price: Silverado” tab.
No big deal. He wanted the retractable steps anyways.
Have a 2022 Silverado crew LTZ on order, dealer cannot tell me when it will be manufactured or show me any pictures. Can you provide any information.thanks!
If it’s truly “on order,” it’s probably a 2022 Limited, a.k.a. a rebranded 2021 meant to bridge the gap between the model years. Ordering books are not yet open for the 2022 refreshed Silverado, and won’t be for several months according to what I’ve heard. If you’re on a waitlist for a 2022 refresh order, well then of course they can’t tell you any of that information because they don’t have it!

production starts in jan then 6 to 8 weeks would be my guess just in time for spring
Man, I really dislike those wheels…
Can they possibly make the new trucks any UGLIER?
Love the refresh! Much more cohesive design gives the truck a more premium look. Very excited to see the dynamic turn signals in action!
The ugly “side burns” are gone!
Side burns are still there, they just trimmed them a little
At least it looks better than the new Tundra. Though then again, that’s not a very high bar.
The grill design is still awful, the convenience features are still not up to par with Ford, and for some reason, even with the massive amount of attention likely put into this redesign, it doesn’t have an on-board generator or a hybrid option. It is at least better than the new Tundra, though.
Nope, nope. Still don’t like it! I’ll Keep my 2016 model !
I don’t like the all painted front end. Bugs eat paint up down here, no matter how often you try to clean them off. Might be different on the other models other than HC? Other than that it looks pretty good.
Much much better layout over the current version..
Still a fairly handsome truck, as the current design didn’t really need much improvement in my opinion. But I’d like it even better if the badge was lower. It’s sitting way too high on the grill, which makes it look somewhat awkward.
Don’t the plants have to be open to build new trucks?
What is wrong with my comment??
I LOVE MY NEW 2022 high country Chevrolet. I have owned many trucks, but this is the very best.
Have a 2022 high country, “upgrade” and cannot find a direct fit grill guard. There’s so much plastic/fiberglass on the front end that i cannot find a direct bolt on grill guard. Otherwise its pretty good truck. In fact i haven’t even seen picture of one with a grill guard on it. I am quite sure that i will have to cut the front plastic/fiberglass in order to mount it on, but i don’t care about that, I hit 5 deer/antelope in my 2011 and had no problems with the grill guard on it. C’mon Chevy lets get this issue fixed!
