Now that the unveiling of the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is out of the way, General Motors is preparing to pull the wraps off of the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, which will make its official debut later in October.
Just like the refreshed Chevy Silverado 1500, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will introduce revised exterior styling to the popular nameplate, including a different front fascia with front air curtains. As GM Authority covered previously, the front end of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali will incorporate a unique Chrome grille chrome exterior trim.
The biggest draw of the 2022 GMC Sierra will be to the interior, as Big Red’s full-size truck will get an overhauled cockpit. It’s worth noting that the range-topping 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali is expected to receive a different interior when compared to other updated Sierra 1500 trim levels, with a unique layout and higher-quality materials. The new-generation GMC Yukon Denali also has this distinction compared to the SUV’s lesser trim levels.
Mid-range models will also get an updated cockpit that will be similar to that on the 2022 Silverado 1500, including the 13.4-inch color touchscreen, 12.3-inch configurable instrument cluster and electronic shift control gear selector.
In addition, we expect the powertrain updates to mimic those of the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, including the enhanced version of GM’s turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which now offers 20 percent more torque. The GMC Sierra should also get a significantly higher tow rating with the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, as the Silverado equipped with the LM2 saw its rating increase from 9,300 to 13,300 pounds.
As we reported previously, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will also migrate to the new GM Global B electrical architecture, which will allow the automaker to equip it with the latest tech, including the most recent version of its hands-free Super Cruise driving system with semi-autonomous towing.
Initially set for launch for the 2021 calendar year, a series of COVID-19 related complications forced GM to push the GMC Sierra refresh back to later in the 2022 model year. The automaker offered a carryover 2022 GMC Sierra Limited in its place, bridging the gap to this upcoming refreshed model. Production of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited began last month.

Sure hope they offer more than a standard black interior!!!
Whatever happened to the lighter interior colors as beige or gray??
Dirt and grime happened.
Hope they don’t screw the GMC up like the Silverado.
What is that?
Screw it up how? By finally giving it a competitive and attractive interior that makes paying their insane MSRPs actually worth it?
Blue like in the Silverado
Looking at Ram for nicer interiors and more color options.
Exactly!!! ..
How many times do you see a Automotive Car/Truck TV Commercial that's got the DARK Black Interiors? ... Not Very Many at All ..
They have Beige/Taupe or light Grey .. So one Can See the Interior of the Car/Truck they are promoting / selling ....
So when can we start placing orders for the 2022 Sierra 1500 Denali (Not the Limited model) the complete refresh.
We'll have that info once it's revealed.
December/January time frame. Refreshed Trucks start getting built in March and hit dealers in May...as of now at least.
I like a tan interior with certain paint colors but unless you constantly keep it clean you will end up doing a lot of scrubbing.
Dealers have told me they order few or none in tan because they seem to sit on the lot for a long time till a taan lover comes along.
Right, the lighter colored interior options are mostly through special orders at purchase, those that are ordered by dealerships will be the ones that sell the fastest, and thus the darker interiors.
I'm told the Max Tow is no longer available on the 2022 GMC Denali 1500
May be they can put a interior that does not fall apart easily. Hope they fixed the fuel management system that cost consumers lots of money to fix when lifters fail.
Thats one reason i got rid of my 2018 1500. didnt like the wy it ran with that cylinder killing crap that you couldn't turn off.
D F Z 🔝👍
I had to do the Right Bank (Cyl. #6 ) on my 2011 Sierra GMC 1500 with 5.3 L Fuel Management System (Displace on Demand originally) Repair Cost me $1800.00 🇨🇦 ...
so whatever I $aved in ⛽..
Went into the Repair ! :(
I would have done both sides and used the eliminator kit
I just hope that the front bench is available. I hate that stupid center console.
It will be.
In my area I know it will be a hard find on any trim above a SLE.
That has proved frustrating to me as well. With 4 kids I need 6 seat capability. If you want the upgraded infotainment system, it's only available on the 5 seat configuration. as well as you lose:
HD Radio
120-volt power outlet
Preferred Package
120-volt box-mounted power outlet
Bose® Premium Sound System
8" diagonal Premium GMC Infotainment System
Power sliding rear window with rear defogger
Universal Home Remote
Not Equipped with HD Radio
HD Rear Vision Camera
Wireless Apple CarPlay/Wireless Android Auto capability for compatible phones
What does any of that have to do with a bench seat? They can't put a 120v power outlet in the bed because it has a bench seat?
also bigger people are cramped with the sides of their legs against the console(at least on prior designs).
