General Motors has released two new Customer Satisfaction Programs (CSPs) to address an issue concerning the electric drive units in a select number of GMC Hummer EV and Chevy Silverado EV models. According to the CSPs, the electric drive units in affected models may not have passed the end of line test. The remedy this issue, and out of an abundance of caution, GM will replace the electric drive units on affected models.
The first program, tagged as N242439340, covers the front electric drive units for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV, as well as the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV. CSP N242439340 requires the replacement of the front electric drive transmission module and reprogramming of the drive motor control module. Critical parts listed for this correction include the module, front electric drive transaxle, and various seals and bolts necessary for the installation.
Similarly, the second program, tagged as N242439341, targets the rear electric drive units of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV. Dealers are instructed to replace the rear electric drive transmission module and execute similar reprogramming steps. This includes replacing the module, the rear electric drive transaxle, and associated components like seals and output shaft rings.
These corrective measures are intended to ensure that all affected vehicles adhere to GM’s performance and reliability standards. According to GM, these new CSPs impacts a total of 29 vehicles, and more than half of them are in GM dealer possession or in transit. Owners concerned if their model may be affected can contact GMC or Chevy customer service directly for more information. Affected customers will be encouraged to contact their local dealer and make a service appointment to receive the suggested repair.
Both the GMC Hummer EV and Chevy Silverado EV feature GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive units, and both ride on the GM BT1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

Glass half full; The repair takes 4 days so while they're working on it they can leave it plugged in and it'll be almost fully charged by the time they're done.
