2025 Chevrolet Equinox LT vs. LT Midnight Edition: Visual Comparison

GM revealed the all-new 2025 Chevrolet Equinox back in January, giving the Bow Tie brand’s second-best-selling vehicle an all-new design inside and out, plus a ton of new technology. Not to be confused with the Equinox EV, which rides on an entirely different architecture, the internal combustion powered 2025 Equinox is longer, wider, and features larger screens, plus a lot more safety features to boot.

The Equinox LT, which is now the base trim for the 2025 model year, features bright chrome accents, but for those who prefer less chrome, the new Equinox can be equipped with the Midnight Edition package. Let’s take a closer look at how the LT looks with and without the Midnight Edition in our real world photos.

The optional Midnight Edition package (WN5) adds the following content:

  • High gloss Black mirror caps (EWE)
  • High gloss Black 19-inch aluminum wheel (PJW)
  • High gloss Black roof rails (V2P)
  • Black upper grille

The Midnight Edition pack adds $1,045 to the price of the Equinox, and it’s worth noting that it only brings visual changes. In typical Midnight Edition fashion, the pack has no impact on performance.

Beyond the Midnight Edition, the 2025 Chevy Equinox gets a considerable upgrade over the last-generation model. The trim level hierarchy has been revamped to include only three models: the base LT, followed by RS as the one with the sporty character, and ACTIV as the one with the more rugged, outdoorsy vibe.

The cabin gains a standard 11-inch diagonal driver information center (DIC) and just-as-new 11.3-inch diagonal infotainment screen with Google built-in. Unlike the Equinox EV and other Ultium-based battery electric models from Chevrolet, the gasoline-powered ‘Nox features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, in wireless fashion.

There’s also a new electronic transmission gear selector on the steering column, freeing up space within the center console for a wireless/inductive phone charger, drive mode selector, and storage cubbies. Single-zone AC and a six-speed audio system is standard, as is a heated steering wheel and heated front seats, plus a 60/40 split-bench rear seat that provides up to 63.5 cubic feet of storage. Premium features such as a surround-view camera, dual-zone AC, ventilated seats and heated outboard rear seats are available.

Regardless of trim or options, every 2025 Equinox is powered by a turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine. The boosted four pot connects to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) for FWD models and the GM eight-speed automatic for those equipped with AWD. The four-cylinder engine is rated at 175 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque in FWD variants, but 175 horses plus 203 pound-feet of torque with AWD.

Production has recently begun at the GM San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico. The 2025 Chevy Equinox starts at $29,995 for the LT FWD model, while RS and ACTIV start at $34,395. Adding AWD costs $2,000 across the board.

  • Comparisons will make a lot more sense to readers when the '25 Equinox actually hits the roads and reviews start coming in. I haven't even looked at the Order Guide yet, so no idea what you're talking about but I'd never go for the Midnight Edition. So over black-themed trim packages. So is most of the buying public. GM, get with the times.

    • Are you hard of seeing or reading? They describe it all for you right there in the article. You don’t need reviews to understand what’s going on visually.

Also, most younger people want the black pack. If not totally dead, chrome is on the way out so you’re way off.

      • I agree , the midnight or black out packages are very popular in this market.
We have it on our Equinox , and are very happy with the way it looks.

    • Yep, some people including myself actually like the Midnight package. Just because it isn't your preference doesn't mean that others don't like it. That is why it is call an OPTION. It was a requirement for me when I purchased my Blazer 2 years ago. I hate chrome. I want all black or body colored trim along with many others. I really like the new Equinox, I just wish there was an option for a more powerful power train.

  • Just ordered a radiant red LT awd with the midnight pkg. black metallic roof. The combination is an eye catcher. Looked at the RS but didn’t care for the wheels. LT $2,000 less.

    • Beautiful combo. I hope you enjoy it. I wish I would have waited on buying my Blazer. I like it, but unfortunately like everything that Chevy has released since I bought it more. I absolutely hated the previous Equinox and Traverse but really like the new models. The Traverse looks kind of long and I am not a fan of 3 row vehicles. I would have most likely just went with the Trax if I had waited. They literally announced it only 2 weeks after i got the Blazer. I would have compromised on the size but been able to easily buy it without financing and I really like the look of it. The Equinox is probably my favorite now tho. It looks great, is still a good size, and not priced too crazy.

  • Although I was born wearing a bow tie, I think Chevy is going too far in the direction of Nissan with this "same look for every model" approach to design. Trax, Trailblazer, Equinox and Traverse all look too similar to each other, imo. And this extends to the interiors as well.

This time around, I prefer the Terrain's "normal" look v. the Equinox' "angry" split lamp theme. One thing I am totally not "into" is the Terrain's giant dash screen that looks plopped in.

  • This disturbing trend of black wheels really needs to end.
    Today.
We specifically ordered a Trax LS in order to get the silver 17" wheels available. Our 2003 Envoy has polished aluminum 17" wheels and they still look great almost 22 years later.
Black wheels make it look like the vehicle's hub cabs were stolen in a bad neighborhood.

  • A $1045 waste of money IMO. There is already plenty of black plastic and trim on these vehicles as is but I guess if you want to make your vehicle look like a cheap bare bones model with rims that were plucked out of a junk yard then sign right up and have your money put into gM's profit coffers.
