Anybody Miss The Power-Adjustable Pedals In GM Full-Size SUVs?

The current-generation of GM full-size SUVs, which include the Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac Escalade ESV, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban, are impressive vehicles in their own right, offering a comprehensive suite of comfort and convenience features. However, the GM T1 platform, which all these vehicles are currently based on, lost an important feature from the previous generation, the power-adjustable pedals.

The power-adjustable pedals (RPO code JF4) were last available for GM full-size SUVs on the final model year of the previous GM K2 platform. This means that with the introduction of the T1 platform for the 2021 model year, the convenience feature was no longer available.

The power-adjustable pedal convenience feature had a wide range of availability across the GM K2 platform:

  • Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV: standard on all trim levels
  • GMC Yukon and Yukon XL: optional on SLE, standard on SLT, SLT Standard Edition and Denali
  • Chevy Tahoe and Suburban: optional on Fleet and LS, standard on LT and Premier

As a quick reminder, all full-size SUVs that ride on the T1 platform are set to receive a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year that includes revisions to the front and rear fascias, as well as updates to the infotainment system.

Production of the refreshed 2024 models is expected to kick off sometime in November 2023 at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

So, we want to know, do you yearn for the power-adjustable pedal convenience feature in your T1 SUV? Vote in the poll below, and fire off in the comments to let us know what your opinion on the matter is!

  • This post and other similar/duplicate posts have been around a long time. If this is such a much clamored for "option", why no aftermarket retrofits? I've read/heard recently that heated seats are no longer considered an optional luxury item but a necessity! Why not adjustable pedals? We've had adjustable seats for decades, adjustable steering wheels (both telescoping and tilt). Why not adjustable pedals?

  • Adjustable pedals is greatly missed. My wife is 5ft tall and refuses to buy another vehicle until these are brought back. For her this poses a significant safety hazard for her as she has to tippy toe to reach the pedals or if she lowers the seat the dash comes into play as she struggles to see over. Not to mention the fact that at 5ft tall and 110lbs the danger of an air bag going off with her sitting on top of the steering wheel just isnt good.

We were in the market for a new LTZ or AT4X but without this option she refused to let me purchase it. She will keep her 2019 LTZ fully optioned _ Yes GM, it has adjustable pedals...

I did come out on the good end of this and she let me go get my next toy. 2015 JKUR, have been having a blast 4 wheeling and modding. Thanks GM

  • Come back with adjustable pedals for goodness sake! Women drivers below 5’2” are choosing vehicles based on accommodations for their height. Telescoping steering wheel is not enough when the drivers seat is so far forward that your passenger feels like he/she is in the back seat. I can promise there’s a lot of moms out there that would love to drive the GMC , but choose the Ford because of the adjustable pedals. I drive a 2018 Yukon and refuse to upgrade because I don’t want to lose my adjustable pedal feature. I’ve test driven the 2023 and hate it because of the lack of this feature alone. Please fix this. It can’t be that hard. Do better.

  • GM needs to put adjustable pedals back in sedans that people can afford. My 66 year old wife is 4’ 8”. She wouldn’t be able to even get in any on the trucks and SUV’s that have the adjustable pedals. The people only talk about the luxury that they are missing but no one talks about we need availability to drivers for their safety. Not only GM but all car manufacturers. Not everyone can afford a 60 to a 100,000 dollar vehicle.

  • I have only owned Chevy vehicles for the last 28 years. My previous tahoes and suburbans all had adjustable pedals. I need a new suburban and am so disappointed that they no longer have them. I am 5 ft tall and even with the telescoping steering column, the design of the vehicle doesn't fit me at all. My knees are on the dashboard. To make my knees and feet resting comfortably and safely, I can't see over the enormous bump in the dash for the fake instrument panel or reach the gear shift buttons which are in an awkward spot for someone short. I am so disappointed in the 2024 suburban. I need a vehicle and have no idea what I am going to do. There was never a question about which vehicle I was going to buy, it was always suburban.... until they made it super unsafe. I beg them to bring back the adjustable pedals and stop changing the vehicles for the worse.

  • I have been A GM SUV driver since 2006 and have now switched to a smaller SUV due to the adjustable pedal feature being removed. I owned a Cadillac Escalade for almost a year and could not deal with it any longer and downsized to a Cadillac XT6. I would 100% go back to a full size SUV if that feature were to be brought back. I am 5’ and my husband is 6’4. We sure need the Adjustable pedals.
