The 2023 Corvette Z06 will feature a slightly revised version of the C8 Corvette Stingray’s Tremec TR9080 eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Corvette chief engineer Jason Holder confirmed the improved transmission for the 2023 Corvette Z06 during a presentation at the recent National Corvette Museum Bash in Bowling Green, Kentucky. According to Holder, this version of the transmission will feature an upgraded clutch pack for increased torque capacity, along with a strengthened casing to handle larger lateral loads. The bell housing was also redesigned to accommodate a larger oil sump, allowing Chevy to ship the Z06 with track-ready transmission fluid levels.
The Corvette Z06’s eight-speed transmission will also feature larger diameter output shaft flanges to support the model’s high-strength half shafts, along with a 5.56:1 final drive ratio, which is about seven percent shorter than the C8 Corvette Stingray’s factory gearing. The Tremec TR9080 eight-speed dual-clutch transmission on the C8 Corvette Stingray is ragged with RPO code M1L, however this improved version for the Z06 has a different RPO code of M1M.
Paired with the upgraded eight-speed transmission in the 2023 Corvette Z06 will be the race-bred 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine, rated at 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The Z06 will pull higher Gs in the corner thanks to its wider front and rear tracks, ultra-sticky Michelin rubber and optional Z07 Performance Package, which adds a full carbon fiber aero kit capable of producing 734 pounds of downforce at 186 mph.
The 2023 Corvette Z06 will enter production at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky later this year. Pricing has yet to be announced.

Would have been nice to learn what % the case was strengthened…assuming this one will be the same, the % would allow us to better guess-stimate the torque increase planned for the rumored ZR1…
It wood be nice to be able to order one in this century.
Case strengthening is because the 460 torque is at the crank. Case torque is input X reduction, which is now 7% greater. Also, the high rev nature means this engine will be in lower high torque gears more often.
The extra oil you are referring to is actually transmission fluid , it has nothing to do with the engine being properly lubricated , its the transmission .
I pondered replacing my Z51 plain old C8 parts with Z06 parts, if I could get them.
And wondered if any suspension would change, like half shafts. So maybe I will not be swapping in a different engine, unless ebay starts offering Z06 engine trans combos as they do now from the C8. Just fanciful dreams, like the idea thatxGM will ever actually release the price for this new model.
When will we be able to order the Z06?
Customer : When ?
GM : Yes. Later.
Customer: Price ?
GM: Yes, there will be.
Nice upgrade
Mexican transmission designer and builder, Tremec, comes through again.
Heads up, really bad misinformation. You need to reissue this. This would cause serious engine damage
“ On the C8 Corvette Stingray, drivers are advised to add an extra two liters of oil if they plan to take the vehicle on a track to ensure the engine received proper lubrication under high load.”
The extra fluid is for the trans not the engine.
The track ready oil fill from the factory is a plus, but hopefully there's also less work involved with topping off the Z06 tranny fluid to track level than there is on the original Stingray DCT.
the Z06 has the 2 extra qt's added from the factory in the DCT
Is it any easier to add track level trans fluid (at the top) to this trans than it is to the Stingray.
