2022 Chevy Bolt EUV ‘The Future Is Right In Front Of You’ Ad: Video

GM has released yet another new ad as part of its ongoing, multi-million dollar ad campaign for the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV and Bolt EV.

Entitled ‘The Future is Right in Front of You’, this ad shows a father driving in a 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV with his young daughter in the back seat. The daughter proceeds to ask her dad “when is the future?”, an inquisitive and profound question characteristic of a young kid, prompting him to reply that the future is “what’s ahead of us.” The daughter says she doesn’t get it, so the dad replies “so now we’re in the present, but now we’re in the future,” before switching on his vehicle’s hands-free Super Cruise system and demonstrating the semi-autonomous driving technology.

This Chevy Bolt EUV advert is part of GM’s new ad campaign for the electric compact car, which debuted earlier this spring. The new ad campaign is intended to boost Bolt sales following the vehicle’s large-scale battery fire recall, which forced GM to recall all 140,000 examples of the Bolt and Bolt EUV and issue a stop-sale order on the vehicles. This new ad campaign will give the Bolt the second-highest media spend at Chevy this year behind the Chevy Silverado truck model line. Chevy marketing boss Steve Majoros has predicted Bolt sales will reach a record high this year as a result of this ad campaign, topping the previous high of 23,297 units sold back in 2017.

GM restarted production of the Bolt EUV and Bolt EV at the GM Lake Orion Assembly plant in Michigan in April. Production of the vehicles had been offline since late 2021 as GM concentrated on manufacturing repair parts for recalled vehicles. A stop-sale order was also active on both vehicles during this time, preventing GM from being able to market and sell the vehicle.

    • so far 16 chevy Bolts have caught fire and the fix is already happening. Just today I read about a huge recall of gasoline fueled Expeditions and Navigators due to, coincidentally, 16 fires that occurred, 14 of which when the car was parked, off, and no keys in the ignition.

the reality of the situation is that Internal combustion cars catch fire FAR MORE OFTEN (about 6x as often) as electric vehicles.

      • The main difference is that batteries can go into self sustaining thermal runaway as the batteries contain both oxidizing and reducing metals... So they can't really be extinguished, short of letting it burn out or burying it. Whereas a traditional ICE fire can be extinguished by conventional methods readily available to most emergency services.

        • Another primary difference is that when your ICE vehicle catches fire while you’re driving it, you’re lucky if you can panic stop and jump out in time whereas an EV that catches fire while driving it, will start to smolder and send you noticifaftaikns. You will then look for the next exist and pull over in an open space, grab your belongings from the glove box and trunk and sit back at a safe distance to call the fire department.

But that’s current battery tech anyway. Battery tech is still so in flux that the likelihood of those events will continue to decrease. Some pouch style lithium polymer batteries can be cut in half, stabbed, shot at, and burned with a torch while still co tiny of to put out energy and while not catching fire. ICE technology is long in the tooth. It’s current problems are not likely to be solved. BEVs are new to market and their tech is improving at the rate of cell phones.

          • We’re you responding to me? I stopped reading after the first 4 words once I realize you are a shill.

          • I'm a shill? A shill for whom, "Big Earth"?

Not sure why you would call me a shill when I promote personal energy independence over continued reliance on large industries. That would be the opposite of the definition of a shill. I guess when Fox and Friends taught you to use that word they didn't actually teach you what it means.

Pro Tip: if you want to know the definition of any word type "def: [word]" in to google.

  • Okay GMA... where is the link to the video....

You talk about these ads but you usually forget to LINK to them....

  • Unfortunately, actually finding a Bolt to buy is almost impossible. There are almost none on the lots and orders seem to be on permanent hold.

    • if you're looking for one right now and can't find one, I'm sorry to hear that. On the other hand it is great news that demand for EVs is so high dealers can't keep any in stock and have back orders.

  • "GM restarted production of the Bolt EUV and Bolt EV at the GM Lake Orion Assembly plant in Michigan in April." Two dealers I spoke with still cannot sell Bolts as of yesterday 5/18/22. They have plenty of cars, but they don't have the batteries to replace the ones that came with the brand new 2022 Bolts so they cannot sell them. What are ya' doin' Chevy???

    • Bolts are getting sold as soon as they hit the lots and batteries are getting replaced. I see lots of "Just got my Bolt" posts on the Bolt subreddit.

    • They restarted production , they are spending millions on advertising and I still have a car that needs a battery replaced. And it will be a year in July..I call, I email, I get the run around.

      • Once your recall bulletin changes from 212343880 to 212343881 your Battery is ready and you contact the Dealership so they can order it and get it shipped for replacement!

GM is focusing on the 2017-2019 Models first and of those they are focusing on the most at risk first, then they will move to the other model years as available.

  • With gas prices going up and BEVs clearly not ideal for everyone (ICE cars account >90% of the market) when is gm going to start focusing on their all but abandoned B/C segment... the lowercase gm offerings in this segment are just not competitive, stock price and shrinking market share clearly reflect this. Might be time for Mary Barra to be held accountable for some of her questionable, short-sighted decisions.

    • Car sales are non-existent. Many companies are dumping them in favor of CUVs.
VW even just recently killed several car models in the states.

      • Please go double check Corolla, Camry, Civic, and Accord sales numbers for 2021... There's probably about 1 million domestic sales with just those 4 models. Tesla, the most popular BEV company only sells about 33% of that number with their ENTIRE lineup. So you can pretend to know what the market wants, but the simple truth is, you don't know.

        • Thumbs down? Do you not appreciate factual statements based in reality on concrete numbers?

        • you can pretend to know statistics but the simple truth is that you don't.

Overall car sales have plummeted nationally and globally. Meanwhile total EV sales are growing 50%+ year over year. Some countries sell more EVs that ICE vehicles already. With the exponential growth of EV sales that will happen in the US before you know it.

Furthermore I would add that every single EV maker in the US is selling every EV they are able to make and trying to increase their production. Its a 1-2year wait for a Tesla, 1-2year wait for Ford F150Lightning. 1yr+ wait for a Mustang Mach-E, etc, etc. EV sales are not currently constrained by demand, they are constrained by supply. And every year they get better and the infrastructure improves. As EV production keeps growing to meet demand, demand will continue to grow.

          • Lol. Ok. Supply side can try to manipulate demand all they want, but the fact is we live in a demand based freemarket... Funny how it seems like the Dems are the new arbiters of supply-side trickle down economics.

          • I'm sorry if you were unable to understand. I feel like you are trying to sound smart by talking about supply side vs demand side economics, when thats not really relevant here.

            Ill try again for you.

If they are making as many of them as they can and not only are they selling all of those but there is a waiting list, then it simply means that people want them. You made a statement suggesting that people don't want EVs and I have shown that clearly is incorrect.

          • I'll explain again for you... If people really want to purchase something companies figure out a way to make it. Toyota has figured out how to continue to make cars and thus now have the largest market share in the United States... It's really not rocket science, despite what Mary Barra wants you to think. Bah bah.

          • Okay genius, manufacturing lines and global supply chains don’t spring up over night. There’s also currently a global chip shortage. The legacy automakers have only gotten serious in the last couple years and are late to the game that Tesla started. Tesla is a start up with 50% year over year production growth which is unprecedented. And yet, all these cars are selling out an d back ordered. Will the companies figure out how to increase production to meet demand in the years to come? Of course they will. But that doesn’t happen over night. It’s not as simple as you seem to think it is. Ford decided to double the output of the F150lightning immediately after realizing how popular it was and they still sold out. These aren’t rubber balls that you can simply call up a factory in China and have them double your production over night. These are complex machines with very extensive supply chains.

  • Damage control much lower case GM? This just shows where all their eggs are. How about advertising what your currently selling like the Camaro and Malibu, your only two cars left besides the super Vette? So many folks I have spoke to don't even realise these two vehicles are even being made as they are never seen on lots, never spoken about or advertised and GM just doesn't care. Pathetic!

    • Fortunately GM will be brought to its knees with the 2022 recession, $5 gas & soaring interest rates.
Time for Chapter 7 and the end of GM.

  • Excellent ad. Directly gets the point across with a bit of gentle humor. It will have a good shelf life - it's one that people will enjoy seeing multiple times. Bravo Chevrolet for finally standing behind the Bolt and doing it well.

  • Bolt is one of the most underrated offering .. its a cute little product. They needed a little more glamour ( its a better affordable offering than most electric cars but none cares it as there is no glamour or fast charging , even an awd would have made a difference and all the battery fire stories made it look very bad too ). If i was doing bolt, i would have made it standout on some places, example : design in most aerodynamic design or something similar so people can talk about it. The sad part of bolt is there is nothing people can talk about.

  • The future was in front of me in 2018 when I purchased a Bolt and then it wasn't when gm repurchased it in 2021

    • The reality is that internal combustion cars burn at 6x the rate of EVs. Just today Ford recalled 2020-2021 gas fueled Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators due to 16 occurrences of fires, 14 of which occurrence when the car was parked and not even running. thats coincidentally the same number of Chevy Bolt forest that have occurred so far. they have since identified the issues with the Bolts and the fixes are happening. They do not yet know why the expeditions/Navigators are catching fire. they are urging people to park them outdoor away from their homes.
