The GMC Jimmy nameplate first hit the scene in 1970, arriving as GMC’s take on the K5-generation Chevy Blazer. Production continued through 1991, at which time the GMC Jimmy was replaced with the GMC Yukon, but enthusiasts still have a soft spot for the classic SUV. Now, custom car builder Flat Out Autos is serving up this modernized GMC Jimmy Denali conversion.
Recently posting a series of images to its official social media feeds, Flat Out Autos is giving us an eyeful of its new GMC Jimmy Denali conversion, including a front three-quarters view and rear three-quarters view. Based on a previous-generation K2 SUV (as opposed to the current GM T1-based SUVs), the Flat Out Autos GMC Jimmy Denali is finished in brown metallic paint, which is complemented with a two-tone finish with a white roof. Further features include chrome detailing, most noticeable with the prominent, squared-off front grille, as well as the door handles, sideview mirror covers, and window surrounds.
The wheels are relatively large in diameter, with a blocky, simple design. The bumpers are also done in chrome, as are the logos and nameplates. In back, we also spot a small trailer hitch.
Based out of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Flat Out Autos has produced a number of nice builds over the years, many of which hail from the GM family, including a modernized K5 Blazer, custom Chevy C10 pickups, and a 1967 Chevy Corvette restomod, to name just a few.
More recently, the shop unveiled a modern two-door GMC Jimmy rendering that looks to be based on the 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X, incorporating the same front end, a short body, tall-riding stance, and optional features like an HD Duramax powertrain.
As for the GMC Jimmy Denali Conversion featured here, we can’t wait to get more information on what it’s bringing to the table.

OMG yes to bringing back a Jimmy!!!!
There's something to be said about resurrecting a great nameplate from the past. If not something big'ish, GMC should finally make a small (compact) suv/cuv a reality - instead of the much talked about Granite name they should call it Jimmy. Or perhaps a compact truck to take on Ford's Maverick.
