The Chevy Equinox was first introduced for the 2005 model year, with the latest third generation arriving for the 2018 model year as an all-new compact crossover. Now, GM Authority has learned when the all-new fourth-generation Chevy Equinox will hit the scene.
According to sources, the all-new fourth-generation Chevy Equinox is set to arrive for the 2025 model year, which means the current third-gen Equinox will stay in production for eight model years total. The next-gen Equinox will be built on the VSS-F vehicle set, unlike the current model, which rides on the GM D2 platform. For reference, the VSS-F vehicle set provides the bones for General Motors vehicles like the 2020 Buick Encore GX and 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer, whereas the older GM D2 platform is shared by vehicles like GMC Terrain and Buick Envision.
In the meantime, the current-generation Chevy Equinox will receive a refresh for the 2022 model year. The Equinox was originally scheduled for a refresh for the 2021 model year, but those plans were delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the refreshed Equinox will go on sale early in the 2021 calendar year.
General Motors originally planned a number of styling revisions to the Chevy Equinox for the now-delayed 2021 refresh, such as new headlamps and tail lamps, a new front grille, an updated lower front fascia, new fog lamps, and a revised rear bumper. GM also introduced a new RS trim, which offers a unique front and rear fascia, new black badges and accents, 19-inch wheels with a dark finish, and quad exhaust tips. Inside, the RS gets red contrast stitching and an RS shift knob.
Now, the refreshed model will launch for the 2022 model year.
Notably, GM Authority was the first to report that the 2021 Chevy Equinox would drop the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG engine option, making the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX the only engine available. According to sources, the 2.0L engine was equipped on just seven percent of the total Equinox sales volume, despite offering 82 more horsepower and 57 more pound-feet of torque than the 1.5L unit. The discontinued 2.0L LTG follows the discontinuation of the 1.6L I4 LH7 turbodiesel with the 2020 Chevy Equinox.

No hybrid or PHEV option would be a no go for me. I think the Equinox is very competitive in its class. Not having those options are a big let down.
GM keeps saying those options are coming across most of their vehicle platforms. I wouldn't worry that as popular as the Equinox is, that it would not be offered on it as well.
If I am not mistaken GM has said they are skipping Hybrid options and going straight to EV. Do you have a link to them saying different? I would love to look at it.
That’s because gas is at a price that anyone who does a little math can figure out the number of miles needed to be driven before the hybrid saves you money . Right now it is an ungodly big number . At $4 a gallon that number goes down . Toyota has to offer the hybrid option because they already had them available and the cost of engineering is mostly paid .
Don’t worry if Biden gets elected , gm will be rushing out hybrid options of course by the time they are out it will be too late . .the green new deal will tax you out of your car .
For those who think ev will save money . The cost of electricity in states like Ny are already 3 times the national average and their green energy mandates are causing the state to enter contracts to pay 3 times that amount for off shore wind energy .
Should also include a diesel option. Better mileage than gas!

Dang. I like this current Equinox a lot and think it's much better than the CX5 from Mazda, but 2025 is still a long time to wait even with a refresh. Why such a long time?

It will be built in the USA because you have a President fighting for the automotive industry where as Canada's Prime minister is only interested in building windmills.
If the POTUS was REALLY fighting for the automotive industries, he would not allow subsidies to be given to any import, be them gas, hybrids, or electrics. Second, more jobs at import factories sell more imports, and displace domestic jobs. He only cares for the oil mobsters that give him campaign money.
I love my 2018, 2.0 litre Equinox. So sad to see it discontinued. The engine's a dealbreaker for me.
My wife has a 2009 Equinox with a 3.4 L V6 engine. In eleven years it had no problems except a bad #1 spark plug (due to supplier problem, not GM) which was replaced under a lifetime warranty. The service manager at our local dealer (who knows its history) is interested to buy our Equinox when we decide to trade it in.

Sure it would be nice, but I'd honestly be very surprised if they put a V6 in this smaller vehicle than the one you're talking about. Then trend has been smaller engines with turbo chargers.
GM better give the Nox an all new interior in 2022 then because the Nox was way behind the interior department as soon as it arrived on the Market. There have been a lot of All New entrants after and now the Nox interior looks even worse than it did a couple of years ago.
If they don’t reintroduce the 2.0T, I hope they beef up the 1.5T significantly. I am guessting CVT will come standard on front wheel drive versions.
