The Chevy Silverado HD took first place for its division in S&P Global Mobility’s 27th annual Automotive Loyalty Awards. It received the Segment Model Loyalty Award in the Heavy-Duty Truck Pickup category.
Loyalty is determined for the Automotive Loyalty Awards through analysis of full-year sales data for the competing vehicle models and manufacturers. A consumer is considered loyal if they previously bought a new vehicle and, during calendar 2022, bought a new vehicle of the same make, model, or manufacturer as their earlier purchase.
The research firm highlighted the fact that the past three years have seen automakers struggle to retain customer loyalty. Loyalty levels have fallen steadily since supply chain issues made getting new inventory from the same manufacturer difficult or impossible. GM bucked this trend despite the fact “retaining loyal customers has been more challenging than ever before.”
GM vehicles won model loyalty awards for five segments in addition to the Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer award for the whole company. The four nameplates besides the Chevy Silverado HD that won first place in their segments are listed below.
All of GM’s 2022 segment loyalty winners come from the Chevrolet brand this year. Last year’s loyalty awards saw a Buick vehicle win one of the divisions as well.
As a reminder, the 2023 Chevy Silverado HD has two engine options, including the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine developing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, as well as the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque.
The upcoming 2024 Chevy Silverado HD will receive a full model refresh that featuring new vehicle styling, an overhauled cabin, new technology, a powertrain update, and the new Silverado HD ZR2 trim level. It will also debut an uprated version of the optional 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine is optional, now supplying 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque.
Both the current and upcoming Chevy Silverado HD model years ride on the more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform The General uses for its full-size SUVs and trucks. Production of the truck takes place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan, and the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

I love these new HD trucks. To me, they are a brilliant tribute to the '63-'66 models, while also looking very strong and powerful, like a Harley Earl-designed locomotive. If I could afford one, I'd have a regular cab LT 4X4 with all the options. In green.
Go Chevy HD!
Have the 8 and 10 spd-transmission issues been resolved, if so what was done and are results satisfactory?
Thank You
They are the best on the market. Everyone I know likes theirs especially with the Duramax
