No. 21 NASCAR Chevy Scores Third Xfinity Win This Year At Atlanta 2023: Video

Austin Hill, driver of the No. 21 NASCAR Chevy Camaro in the Xfinity Series, is certainly on a hot streak. Heading into last weekend’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, he’d already won twice this year, having taken the checkered flag at Daytona and then again at Vegas. He crossed the line in first once again at Atlanta, bouncing back from a minor incident to take home yet another trophy in 2023.

Hill’s No. 21 Camaro was found to be in the lead when the final caution was called on the last lap, edging out Daniel Hemric in the No. 11 Camaro for the win. Parker Kligerman, driver of the No. 48 Camaro, battled it out until the end and looked as though he would battle for the win, but he spun across the nose of Hemric’s No. 11 Camaro, slamming the right rear of Hill’s No. 21 Camaro.

Hill gathered the No. 21 NASCAR Chevy back up and threw it ahead of the pack, barely beating Hemric’s No. 11 NASCAR Chevy by just .085 seconds. Meanwhile, Kligerman’s No. 48 Camaro crossed the line backward, ultimately finishing fourth as the No. 19 Toyota Supra of Ryan Truex slipped past him for third by just .001 seconds.

“I have no idea how I saved it coming to the line,” Hill said after the race. “What a start to the season. Everybody at Richard Childress Racing, ECR engines – we’ve just had such a fast start with Chevrolet. This has been special, for sure.”

In an unrelated incident, the No. 92 NASCAR Chevy of Josh Williams was involved in a wreck with the No. 02 Camaro of Kyle Weatherman. As a result, Williams’ No. 92 Camaro shed debris on the front stretch shortly after the race restarted, prompting NASCAR to park him in concordance with its Damaged Vehicle Policy. Williams, frustrated, simply parked the No. 92 Camaro at the start/finish line and left it there in protest. He was called to the hauler and reprimanded after he was released from the infield care center.
