After General Motors announced at the end of November that the Buick Electra E4 will debut this year in China, images and details of the Tri-Shield brand’s upcoming all-electric crossover has just fully leaked in the Asian country.
Once again, authorities in China spoiled the SAIC-GM joint venture’s eventual reveal by publicly releasing the manufacturer’s official future product statement for the upcoming Buick Electra E4 – the brand’s second Ultium-based EV and next member of Buick‘s zero-emissions Electra family. The leak includes the compact-sized E4’s first exterior images and general information before being officially announced by GM.
Leaked images confirm that the upcoming Buick Electra E4 crossover represents the production version of the Buick Electra-X Concept unveiled in the middle of last year, as GM Authority recently reported exclusively before the model was caught for first time on public roads. As such, the Electra E4 retains the concept’s overall shape and design features.
Aesthetically, the Buick Electra E4 stands out for its dynamic proportions and aggressive front end, with a grille design more similar to that of an internal combustion vehicle. The body of the Electra E4 is slightly shorter than that of the all-new Buick Electra E5 at 189.7 inches long, while standing 75.3 inches wide and 62.2 inches high. The E4’s wheelbase measures 116.3 inches, identical to what its big brother shares with the Chevy Equinox EV.
Furthermore, the leak reveals that the upcoming Buick Electra E4 will feature a base powertrain comprised of a single Ultium Drive electric motor generating an output of 180 kW or 241 horsepower – possibly mounted on the front axle, combined with a lithium-iron phosphate Ultium battery pack. However, the crossover will also offer a more powerful GS variant with an additional motor and AWD.
The upcoming Buick Electra E4 is one of four new Ultium EVs GM will launch this year in China, with its official introduction expected to take place sometime in the second half of the year. Unlike the compact-to-midsize Buick Electra E5 that is also expected to be introduced in North America, the Electra E4 will be an exclusive vehicle for the Chinese market, as GM Chairman Mark Reuss revealed in November.

A bit bland, but it actually works way better than the Envista and E5. And of course, America can't get it.
I just don't see what everyone is looking at and saying it looks good. What am I missing? The front resembles an older Mazda CX9, the back side looks like the newer Mazda CX30 and with the cheap black plastic around the wheels and bottom, it might as well be a Mazda. Maybe if they offer it in Avenir with the fully painted trim and in a different color than silver it might look better.
Otherwise, huge pass.
Yep, I see lot the cx-30 here. Not so sure that is a good thing as the cx-30 isn't selling particularly well (at least in the US).
I actually agree, i dont think it looks all that. Plus the power that its putting out is garbage. Not even 250 hp to push around that heavy ass battery.
and the beltline is too high which makes it look smaller - like a subcompact
Clean lines, looks good.
It ACTUALLY looks great, it looks like a hatchback car. I really like it, it sits nice and low down on the tires, has great aero-dynamic styling, yes, i really really like it. It is not like the usual crossovers and SUVs that sit about two feet above the tires, handle like a drunken elephant and have the styling and aero-dynamics that of a shoe-box. SORRY, no disrespect to the elephant community, (i have rides on both means of transport recently, the similarities are so much alike) Getting back to the Electra, i am really stunned, GM designers are really turning out great styled cars lately, 2024 Cadillac CT6, the Celestiq, 2024 Lacrosse, the upcoming 2025 Malibu , now all i have to wait on is the 2024 Buick Regal. I just love those GM upcoming cars.
daryl parker: Reading your comment made me question why make this a crossover/hatch like vehicle instead of a sedan then? From what you wrote, " I really like it, it sits nice and low down on the tires, has great aero-dynamic styling, yes, i really really like it. It is not like the usual crossovers and SUVs that sit about two feet above the tires,"
Isn't the purpose of driving those boxes (SUV's) because everyone wants to sit up higher and have the ability to haul huge boxes around? At least that's what people on here keep saying. So from what you are saying, why not make this a true sedan? From the looks of it, I don't think many large boxes could be hauled in the back anyhow with that tapered off roof and all. Instead, Buick is bringing us a slightly larger Mazda CX30. No thanks.
what . . . 2024 Regal and 2025 Malibu?!?!?!?!? Have you seen either - if so can you share pics. I believe Chevy hasn't confirmed the next gen (2025) Malibu, there is speculation or "insider info" but nothing official from GM
last month BURLAPPCAR posted a picture of an upcoming Malibu, but i search all the Chinese car sites twice a day, prototypes claim it is a Regal. Unfortunately we have to wait.
Bring on the Wildcat. That was a fantastic design.
