Dealers may no longer be able to register new sold orders for the 2023 Corvette Z06, however those customers that were lucky enough to get their order in before the cutoff will be happy to learn production of the mid-engine supercar will begin in just a couple of short weeks.
The 2023 Corvette Z06 is scheduled to begin rolling off the production line at the GM Bowling Green plant in September 19th, 2022, GM Authority learned this week. As we reported previously, production of the Corvette Z06 will be severely constrained due to supplier shortages.
GM has decided to allocate new units of the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 to dealers using a Historic Sales Volume model based on 2020, 2021, and 2022 Corvette Stingray 3LT sales volume. This means dealers that sold a large number of Corvette Stingray models in the range-topping 3LT trim level received priority on Z06 order allocation. Pricing for the 2023 Corvette Z06 starts at $106,395 and will also come with a $2,600 gas guzzler tax.
The 2023 Corvette Stingray entered production at the GM Bowling Green plant back in May and is not under the same severe constraints as the highly-anticipated Z06. Compared to the Stingray, the Corvette Z06 features a widebody design with wider wheels and tires, revised aerodynamics and, most importantly, a new flat plane crank 5.5L V8 LT6 engine doling out 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The available Z07 Performance Package extracts the last bit of performance out of the Z06, adding a downforce-heavy aero package, more powerful carbon ceramic brakes and retuned FE7 suspension, among more. This model also uses an upgraded, more robust version of the GM eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
