Here’s When 2022 Chevy Colorado Extended Cab Production Will End

The 2022 Chevy Colorado is the final model year before the arrival of the all-new third-generation Chevy Colorado for the 2023 model year. As such, production of the 2022 Chevy Colorado is winding down, and now, GM Authority has learned when production of the 2022 Chevy Colorado Extended Cab model will end.

According to GM Authority sources, production of the 2022 Chevy Colorado Extended Cab will end on December 5th, 2022. The final order cycle for Extended Cab configuration begins on October 20th. That means dealers will be able to order the 2022 Chevy Colorado in the Extended Cab body style for a few days after October 20th, after which orders for the Colorado in that particular body configuration will no longer be available.

It’s unclear at this time if the next-generation 2023 Chevy Colorado will be offered as an Extended Cab model, or if it will be exclusively available as a Crew Cab. For the moment, the 2022 Chevy Colorado is available in an Extended Cab / Long Box configuration, Crew Cab / Short Box configuration, and Crew Cab / Long Box configuration.

As GM Authority covered previously, production of the 2022 Chevy Colorado was originally slated to end on October 14th, but according to sources familiar with the matter, production was extended two months, with a final production date set for December 23rd. Production of the 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison will end December 5th, 2022.

Under the hood, the 2022 Chevy Colorado can be had with one of two engine options, including the atmospheric 2.5L I4 LCV gasoline engine, rated at 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque, and the atmospheric 3.6L V6 LGZ gasoline engine, rated at 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. The pickup was also previously offered with the 2.8L I4 LWN turbodiesel Duramax engine, but, as GM Authority reported previously, production of the diesel-powered Colorado ended July 4th.

Looking ahead, production of the 2023 Chevy Colorado will begin January 25th, 2023, as GM Authority exclusively covered previously. Production will once again take place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

  • If they would quit being so mysterious about what the new options will be, it would make the public’s decisions a lot easier. I.e. I want a long bed, but if the 23 will not have them I’ll try to get a 22

  • Willl the yet to be manufactured 2022 Colorado Extended Cab 4wd V6 have the new redesigned 8 speed transmission?

  • I'm asking this on behalf of a family member. Is there a backup of orders for the Chevy Colorado extended cab? My family member ordered/purchased October 2022 and have not yey received their Colorado. Why is it taking this long?
