General Motors has started a Customer Satisfaction Program for certain examples of the 2022 model-year Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, as well as the 2022 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, over an issue related to over-the-air software updates.
The problem: affected vehicles may have a condition in which a ‘Download Paused’ message appears on the central display screen while attempting to download and install an over-the-air (OTA) update.
The hazards: while this problem does not pose an immediate safety hazard to the driver or vehicle occupants, it may cause the battery to drain once the OTA update has finished installing. This could leave drivers stranded at their current destination, as the vehicle cannot be started with a dead battery.
The fix: GM will instruct dealers to charge and test the vehicle’s battery. If the battery fails the test, technicians will replace it. The vehicle’s Serial Data Gateway Module (SDGM) will also be reprogrammed to prevent future download errors. These repairs will be performed at no cost to the vehicle owner.

Owners should: GM will notify owners of affected vehicles and instruct them to make an appointment with their dealer. My 2022 is being made right now. Will the battery be tested before it leaves the plant in Arlington.
I experienced this issue just about a month ago. My dealer was perplex to say the least. It took 2 weeks to figure out the issue, but all set now. Battery was dead every morning.
I have one question? What happened to the automatic shut off that keeps the battery from having a total discharge. The device in my 2012 still works. GM is going back to horse and buggy days.
And..... What was the solution??? How did they fix it? Half a million GM product owners with dead batteries want to know...
got a 22 tahoe in january , battery has gone dead 4 times already. dealer has no answer. well maybe now they will believe me

wonder if this would also fix the no network message on radio and dead air, the screwed up lane assist that steers where ever it wants and the dead instrutment cluster every other week . not bad for a new tahoe with 5000 miles lol

Just recieved a new 2022 refreshed Sierra SLT. Left it at the airport parking for a week and returned to find it dead. Checked it twice to be sure all doors were locked and no lights left on. Upon return the battery was dead,dead,dead. Drivers door was unlocked but all others were locked. Had to boost it ( left booster cables on for 5 minutes before trying to start). Fired right up but alarm was sreeeming. Instrument cluster said to lower right front window then raise. repeat 5 minutes later for left front window. Nothing in the vehicle was touched but it sat unlocked in an airport parking lot for 10 days.
I know all the doors were locked What happened? has been fine since. ????

Software developers are still in the learning curve with every component of a vehicle is impacted by software and micro chips. All doors, windows, locks gauge cluster, lighting are controlled on a data buss, no longer hard wired. One component failure, like a battery with low voltage anything can happen.
I tested software for almost 20 years and where the developers and some tester trip up on is the "what ifs". Software statements are "if, then, else". A software developer mention the what ifs while reviewing new requirements to estimate software development. Testers need to learn this to come up with the what if tests and this is a perfect example, failure of a software download and a recovery.
I'll take OTA updates anytime just for the sheer convenience and speed to get an
Fix and not what months for a dealer appointment. .
To Shirley: How do you know your 2022 GMC is being made now? I have had an order in for a Yukon since last December and was told they are no longer making 22's.
Joe, I also ordered my Tahoe in December. Took a long time to even get an order number. It’s been up and down since March. Last few weeks it’s been all are on hold, then my dealer last week found one in production. This week my original is back on possibly first week of July. Will see.
Shirley and Joe my dealer called me a few weeks ago and said that my Yukon with the Duramax will be made the week of June 27 . But I am told that not everything I ordered would be working. Guessing heated seats, steering wheel. Good luck for all of us. I placed the order Christmas Eve.

My family was headed home from vacation to find our 22 Tahoe dead in the parking lot after 2 days. We called OnStar, after several jumps being unsuccessful with the electric -fob start. Tow truck came after about an hour and was able to get us jumped!
We traveled about 40 minutes to the convenience store for gas, being careful not to turn off the vehicle—and the automatic idle shut off killed the car (our fault for forgetting about this) , and the car was dead again. This time we continued to get the message, no key found. After trouble shooting with OnStar and setting up a tow that would arrive after 1.5 hours, and many unsuccessful jumps, we disconnected the battery and reconnected to reset electronics -and it started right up. I’m sure the jumps were helpful in charging the battery, but the no key found was extremely frustrating out of nowhere. We also had the windows messages during both of today's incidents. I’m looking forward to getting home and getting this to a dealership asap. I’m thankful for the OnStar coverage and hopefully they will be able to help trouble shoot better with all the feedback!
Thank you TIA and George S for responding to my post and staying on topic. Very frustrating to pay big bucks to get a less than reliable vehicle. Trying to glean any information about the issue at hand is difficult. Dealer seems to know nothing- And much less cares.
As a consumer should I be expected to supply the new car dealer with articles from a owners forum to help him understand that my vehicle may have a problem.
