2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Base Trim Renamed To Sierra Pro

The base trim level for the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited has been renamed Sierra Pro.

Previously, the GMC Sierra 1500 in the entry-level work truck trim was simply referred to as the “Sierra.” With this change, the base trim for the full-size pickup will be now be referred to as the Sierra Pro – likely a reference to the contractors and other professionals that typically gravitate to this entry-level trim. Just like before, the Sierra Pro is available in the Regular Cab, Double Cab and Crew Cab body configurations.

As we reported previously, this same change has been applied to the 2022 GMC Sierra HD. The entry-level variant of the Sierra HD was also previously referred to as “Sierra” and from the 2022MY onward will be referred to as Sierra Pro.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited is a continuation of the current 2021MY GMC Sierra 1500 and will stick with the same available models, trims and options and features. The 2022MY was originally set to introduce the mid-cycle enhancement version of the full-size pickup, but GM was forced to delay the arrival of the updated truck until later in the 2022MY or until the 2023MY. The MCE Sierra 1500 will feature revised exterior styling, an overhauled interior and will feature GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver-assist system as an option.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited will enter production at the GM Silao plant in Mexico on September 20^th and at the GM Fort Wayne Assembly plant in Indiana a week later on September 27^th.

GM is also rolling out a Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited for the 2022MY. Just like the Sierra 1500 Limited, the Silverado 1500 Limited will carry over every aspect of the 2021MY truck, including all available models, trims, options and features.
