The Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV has posted impressive sales figures thus far, with 33,094 units sold in China during November, making the microcar the best-selling EV in the Chinese market, beating the Tesla Model 3. In fact, the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV was the only EV in China that sold more than 30,000 units in a month.
The sales performance was reported by Chinese automotive news website Gasgoo.
SAIC-GM, one of General Motors’ joint ventures in China, launched the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV earlier this year. The microcar is offered in three basic and affordable variants, with pricing ranging between RMB 28,800 (about $4,400 at current exchange rates) and RMB 38,800 (about $5,930).
Taking inspiration from Japanese kei cars, the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV seeks to combine practicality with highly compact exterior dimensions.
The impressive sales performance in November follows a string of earlier sales successes. As GM Authority reported in November, the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV was the best-selling electric vehicle in China during the month of October as well, with 20,631 units sold. The Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV was also the best-selling electric vehicle in China in August of 2020, with roughly 15,000 units sold, outpacing the Tesla Model 3, which sold 11,800 units during the same time period.
In the first 20 days after GM opened order books in July, some 15,000 orders for the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV were made, with another 35,000 order made through August.
The Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV comes with two doors for ingress and egress, and four seats to accommodate passengers, as well as a large rear hatch for cargo. With the rear seats folded down, the minicar offers a maximum of 741 liters (26.2 cubic feet) of space. Motivation is sourced from an electric motor producing 13 kW (17.4 horsepower) and 85 Nm (62.7 pound-feet) of torque. Range per charge is rated at 170 km (105.6 miles) in top-trim form, while top speed is set at 100 km/h (62 mph).

Nest Big Thing: Charging stations- what are they going to look like? Maybe a Sonic or 7-11, or even a Car Wash -wash & wax in 1 hr including a complete charge. Would Grocery Store chains invest in a parking lot full of charging stations? Of course, they may spring up along side the Gas Station but what are you going to do with yourself during the charge even if "they" eventually cut the time to 1 or 2 hours for a full charge. Of course you will have an app they tells you when the charge is complete or the % remaining. Some enterprising young group needs to step up - plenty of money to be made here. How about a restaurant chain- the Charge & Chomp!
I own 2 electric cars. There are charging stations everywhere and in places most gas car drivers never think of. There are charging stations at grocery stores, shopping malls, gas stations, and work places. Granted there are stand alone charging areas like ChargePoint, Electrify America, and the Tesla superchargers, but there are huge numbers of other chargers around every corner. Unless you’re an electric car owner, you probably never notice them.
Perhaps GM stock is on the way up, selling tiny little cars all over the world, starting with the Chinese market. The question many years ago was: "Who makes more money: Rolls Royce or Volkswagen? That was when you get a VW bug out the door for just around $2100.00. So far this little car has sold 50,000 cars/orders! Which current U.S. vehicle has sold that many (in a 3-month span)? Now if those cars can just support the creation of rims that don't crack on Z06 and Grandsport sales, you'd really have something! AF

Q: Who makes more money Rolls Royce or Volkswagen?
A: Audi & Porsche all other VAG divisions lose money.
I cant help but chuckle every time i look at this car.
I can'r help but worry. Why? Taxes, in NC "NO" EV owner pays one cent in road taxes, but when we fill up our Chevy truck 74 cents out of each gallon goes to road use tax or about $24 with each fill-up in taxes. The EV drives in an out of state get free range on our nations highways ... while we pay taxes. There's a start in the NC House to start a yearly fee of $135 ... that's not enough when you figure we pay about $100 a month in taxes on gas. If the EV crowd wants to ride, they should "pay their fair share" ... at least that's what the libs like to say.
You make a good point. My comment was more towards how little this car is. I would literally have to rip out the front seat and sit in the rear to drive it.
Reminds me of the first Police Academy movie where Mahoney was teaching Hightower how to drive. They stole the jerk cadet's Honda Civic and Hightower had to rip the front seats out and sit in the rear seat to drive. So you would have to Hightower it.
Im 6 foot 5 so im used to having to Hightower almost everything.....lol.
This would be a great second car and with a price of under $10K would be attractive for college students and in-city driving for grocery and running errands.
Thanks for your handy post. Over time, I have come to be able to understand that the particular symptoms of mesothelioma are caused by the actual build up associated fluid between the lining of your lung and the chest muscles cavity. The ailment may start inside chest region and pass on to other parts of the body. Other symptoms of pleural mesothelioma cancer include weight-loss, severe inhaling and exhaling trouble, temperature, difficulty swallowing, and bloating of the face and neck areas. It really should be noted that some people with the disease will not experience just about any serious indications at all.
I think there would be a huge market for this in the US. Young people are looking for transportation alternatives. This would fit the bill exactly.
