General Motors Unveils New GM Genuine Parts And ACDelco Parts Packaging

General Motors Customer Care and Aftersales have released photos of the new branding and packaging for GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco parts.

The automaker says the new GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco packaging and branding provides dealerships with an “opportunity to grow parts share in an increasing parts and service market.” This effort also includes enhanced brand security measures to guarantee the authenticity of the parts and prevent fake parts from circulating.

The new packaging is color-coded to identify certain parts types and features multi-language translations and clear designations that the parts are GM Original Equipment.

“Strong parts brands with a clear, global market position and packaging help customers easily identify GM parts and will provide the ability to bolster the value of our protected product with new security features,” said GM’s global vice president for Customer Care and Aftersales, John Roth. “We’re committed to delivering a high quality, complete portfolio of parts, all backed by General Motors, that benefit our business partners, business customers and vehicle owners.”

The automaker says the new branding and packaging first began arriving in North America this fall and will continue to circulate throughout 2021 with the global expansion of the launch. One Chevy dealership that already received parts with the new packaging said it is a “game changer,” and that the “sleek new design offers brand recognition while helping to set us apart from other manufacturers.”

Additionally, GM says the all-new packaging “is the first of several activities planned in 2021 and beyond to strengthen GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco.” With the average age of light vehicles on the rise in the United States, the automaker is looking to capitalize on the higher demand and create opportunities for GM Customer Care and Aftersales and its aftermarket partners to increase their sales and grow their businesses.

  1. The average vehicle age will significantly increase and used car sales will skyrocket once unaffordable EVs take over.

    1. No, automakers have great DC lobbyists. We end up with another Cash For Clunkers scheme to bail out automakers who’ve invested billions into EV technology.
The they will claim it’s for Mother Earth but lobbyists help stock holders. EV’s have less moving parts and with these skateboard platforms are cheap to mass produce.

  2. New box, same old GM China parts

    1. Half true, I work in auto parts and carry AC Delco products.
AC Delco Advantage is the price line to compete with cheap aftermarket parts, nearly all of it made in China.
AC Delco Professional is their premium aftermarket line to compete with premium name brand aftermarket parts.
Mostly off shore production, but is a premium product.
AC Delco OE is the original equipment part that was installed when the vehicle was built.
So watch the labels. There is a difference!

    2. If you’ve ever been to a GMCCA warehouse you would realize that you are wrong, yes they have parts made in China, but also from all over the world and a lot made here in the USA.

Canada, S. Korea, Mexico and Germany manufacture quite a bit also. GM sells vehicles worldwide . Yes I believe GM should manufacture it’s parts here and keep jobs in the USA.

  3. Nice to see. But, how are they gonna keep fake parts from still being brought in? It’s a VERY big business. And, many, many small shops, take advantage of the fake parts in GM lookalike boxes. I’ve seen it happen. Having two or three lines of A/C Delco parts available, doesn’t help the situation. Bring the high price of replacement parts down, and you will stop the fakes. And an entire illeagal organization, in it’s tracks.

  5. GM Batteries use to be the best in the world, now they are just about junk! Back in the late 1980s and into the 1990s Honda America got their batteries ( AC Delco ) from GM for their Ohio plants. I know someone in our family had one and it lasted 15 years, as did the one in my 1999 S10 Xtreme which I still own put away for winter all original!. PS when I replace the battery in my 2019 Vette GS it will not be an AC Delco, not even with my Corvette Club discount!
Another PS if they have these parts in place why does it take months for parts for my 2019 Buick?

    1. There are only a handful of battery makers. Johnson Controls makes a wide range that are easily found in parts stores.

    2. Delco batteries stopped being made by GM during the bankruptcy. They are now made (like most batteries these days) by Johnson Controls.

  6. AC-Delco/United Delco/United Motors Service, used to mean something. O.E.M. parts made by G.M., for G.M. Chevrolet transmissions & Delco Batteries were made right here in my town for 70+ years each (with 5,000 workers) The Delco Remy & Guide Lamp Divisions were 20 min away. G.M. was in that town for 80+ years (20,000+ workers). All gone. Now, your lucky if they’re made in the U.S.A., let alone locally.

  7. All of the OEM AC Delco parts I have been buying for my 94 and 98 trucks the last few years say made in Mexico or China. Either bring back production or i will just buy aftermarket like the Standard Motor Parts Distributor or the Powermaster alternator that I bought recently that actually were made in USA.
