J.D. Power recently released the findings from its 2020 U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study, recognizing the Cadillac CT5 as the top luxury model in the Convenience Tech category of the Advanced Technology Awards.
The Advanced Technology Awards look at 34 technologies divided into four categories, including Convenience, Emerging Automation, Energy and Sustainability, and Infotainment and Connectivity.
The Cadillac CT5 secured the win in the Convenience Tech category for its Rear Seat Reminder technology. This tech has a two-fold purpose – not only does it help to remind drivers to check for items left in the rear seat, which are frequent targets for theft, but also can help drivers to check for young children as well, who could be forgotten while out running errands and suffer from heatstroke on a hot day.
As we’ve covered previously, Cadillac as a brand ranked third in the J.D. Power TXI study. Now in its fifth year, the study looks at how effectively technology is brought to market, including adoption and execution.
This year’s study was based on responses from 82,527 owners of new 2020 model-year vehicles. The owners were surveyed after 90 days of ownership, with the study fielded between February and May of 2020. The findings were then calculated based on a 1,000-point scale.
Some of the key findings include an overall positive experience for customers with regard to camera view technologies, including camera rear-view mirror tech. The study also found an overall negative reaction to cabin gesture control, and a mixed reaction to automated driving technologies.
Volvo was the highest-ranked brand overall, followed by BMW in second, and Cadillac in third. Volvo scored 617 points, BMW scored 583 points, and Cadillac scored 577 points.
The Cadillac CT5 was first introduced for the 2020 model year, and serves as a direct replacement for the Cadillac ATS, and an indirect replacement for the Cadillac CTS. Based on the Alpha 2 platform, engine options include the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY and the turbocharged 3.0L V6 LGY, with production taking place at the GM Lansing Grand River facility in Lansing, Michigan.

Nice that the 2020 Cadillac has a rear seat reminder. My 2020 Chevy Malibu Premier also has a rear seat reminder notice on the dash AND a chime!👍👍
My 2017 Malibu LS also has a rear seat reminder notice and chime!
GM miss management is foaming at the mouth to kill of this car and discontinue the Alpha platform. The Alfa program is a outlier and must be canceled so the resources can go into more boring suvs...........
