Flowmaster FlowFX Exhaust For K2 Silverado, Sierra Sounds Dope: Video

One of the easiest ways to add some pizzazz to your car without breaking the bank is with an aftermarket exhaust system. Yes, you can go crazy and break the bank with a custom exhaust, but you don’t have to thanks to companies like Flowmaster, which have built an empire with bolt-on aftermarket exhausts that don’t require welding expertise or an ASE master mechanic certification. The latest offering from Flowmaster is its FlowFX cat-back system for the 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3L L83 V8 engine. In other words, the system is for the K2 platform trucks, not the all-new T1 platform models.

Flowmaster says the FlowFX exhaust is easy to install using the trucks’ factory hanger locations. The system features three-inch, mandrel bent 409 stainless steel tubing paired with the FlowFX series straight-through performance muffler. To complete the look, Flowmaster adds a 4.5-inch black ceramic stainless steel tip. The exhaust note is definitely more noticeable and louder over the stock system, but not so much that it will compel the neighbors to call the cops on you.  It’s also noticeable from within the truck, without being overbearing.

Besides the acoustic benefits, the Flowmaster exhaust for the Silverado and Sierra also increases performance, though only slightly. Horsepower and torque figures increase by about seven and eight, respectively. To top it all off, Flowmaster also offers a lifetime limited warranty.

It’s worth noting that this Flowmaster FlowFX cat-back exhaust system is much tamer than Flowmaster’s own Outlaw system that’s available for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and 2019 GMC Sierra; that exhaust sounds downright menacing, and the rumble alone would attract the eyeballs (and ire) of a bored police officer, while probably straining your relationship with your neighbors.

In any event, have a listen to the exhaust in action in the video for yourself by hitting the play button.
