Corvette E-Ray Star Of Upcoming Forza Motorsport Game

GM’s new hybrid Vette, the 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray, is featured as one of the premier cars available for players to pilot in the new Forza Motorsport video game from Turn 10 Studios.

Made as true-to-life as possible within the constraints of game engine physics, the Corvette E-Ray is one of two GM cars that appear on the cover of Forza Motorsport, alongside the 2023 Cadillac V-Series.R.

Now, thanks to Turn 10 Studios presenting actual gameplay of Forza Motorsport at Xbox Games Showcase, GM Authority has new images to share of the Corvette E-Ray as rendered within the video game.

The June 11th gameplay reveal comes four months before Forza Motorsport is due for public release on October 10th, 2023. Turn 10 Studios’ programmers worked closely with GM’s engineers to program the virtual Corvette E-Ray to match the performance data from the actual vehicle. Real vehicle sounds are also used throughout the game.

Development of the in-game Corvette E-Ray and other models began approximately a year before the vehicle was revealed to the public. Chevy describes the E-Ray as “the quickest Corvette in history and the first Corvette to feature both electrification and all-wheel drive capability,” noting that the variant “will just be getting into the hands of U.S. customers when Forza Motorsport is released.”

Forza Motorsport has featured Cadillac and Chevy cars since the video game series began in 2005. The latest Motorsport title is “the most technically advanced and authentic racing game we’ve ever made” according to a Turn 10 Studios executive. It focuses on racing on “photorealistic” race tracks, unlike the “open-world” Forza Horizon 5.

Meanwhile, the real-world 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray will be available for ordering in late 2023. The E-Ray’s hybrid powertrain features the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, rated at 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, motivating the vehicle’s rear axle.

An electric motor, rated at 160 horsepower and 125 pound-feet, on the front axle, bringing total output up to 655 horsepower, powers the front axle and makes the Corvette E-Ray both the first hybrid and the first AWD variant of the nameplate.

A new variant of the C8’s dual-clutch, eight speed automatic transmission (RPO code MLH) is exclusively offered with the E-Ray. As far as structure is concerned, the GM Y2 platform underpins the hybrid Corvette.

Production will take place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky, where the C8 Stingray and C8 Z06 models are also produced.

  • How long until the E and EV in the name nonsense goes away?

Will they put ICE in the names then?

Although ford could bring back the model T and call it Model ICE-T…and also have a Model E-T

    • Many cars have mentioned their powertrains in their model name in the past, including ICE models.

      Why does this bother you?

Would you like the E-Ray if it was called something else but had the same powertrain? Is the "E" the biggest problem you have with it?
