Way back in October 2021, GM Authority reported that Lingenfelter was offering supercharger kits for GM pickup trucks equipped with either the 5.3L V8 L84 or 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine. Now, owners of select GM SUVs who have a desire for more performance can also order a supercharger for their vehicle.
Available with a three-year/36,000-mile warranty, Lingenfelter claims that GM SUVs equipped with the 6.2L L87 will see outputs of up to 650 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, vehicles equipped with the 5.3L L84 will produce 545 horsepower and 535 pound-feet of torque. This represents a roughly 45 percent increase from stock figures.
Of course, this kit is available for the following GM SUVs:
Developed in conjunction with Magnuson, this supercharger kit utilizes a TVS 2650 supercharger to churn out six pounds of boost. Featuring an advanced charge air intercooler design, this kit is intended to offer exceptional acceleration at little detriment to fuel economy. With a starting price of $9,150, prospective customers must also factor in the required $2,600 Global B ECM recalibration.
It’s worth noting that although GM pickups and SUVs use the same engines, the two supercharger kits boast separate part numbers. In addition, Lingenfelter directly calibrates the factory ECM, and does not use any supplemental piggyback devices.
For those who may be unaware, here’s a quick breakdown on Lingenfelter. Based out of Brighton, Michigan – and founded by NHRA driver John Lingenfelter – Lingenfelter Performance Engineering is in the business of developing monster horsepower ratings from a wide range of GM vehicles. In fact, the company’s breadth is so wide, that it offers power enhancements from the 1997 Corvette C5 to the 2023 Corvette C8, and everything in between.
