U.S. inventory of the Chevy Trax small crossover was at just 10 days supply as of the beginning of July, GM Authority has learned from sources familiar with GM’s go-to-market situation. A 60-day supply is considered optimal in the U.S. auto industry.
This is most likely the result of several reasons. First, several supply-level issues have been slowing production at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea where the Trax is built. Second, production of the 2022 Trax is scheduled to end in the third quarter of the 2022 calendar year, as production of the current model will soon end and GM is set to reveal an all-new Chevy Trax later this year.
Sales of the Trax have tapered off since the launch of the Chevy Trailblazer for the 2021 model year. An indirect replacement for the Trax, the Trailblazer slots between the Chevy Trax and Chevy Equinox within the Bow Tie’s crossover lineup. Meanwhile, Chevy is also dropping the Chevy Spark after the 2022 model year. The Spark and Trax are Chevy’s two entry level models, leaving the Trailblazer now as the most affordable GM vehicle available in the U.S.
In terms of sales, the Trax was down nearly 60 percent during the 2021 calendar year to 42,590 units sold, as compared to 106,299 units sold in 2020. By comparison, the Trailblazer was up a whopping 163 percent to 90,161 units last year, as compared to 34,292 units in 2020, its launch year when it recorded partial sales figures.

The discontinuation of the Chevy Trax was part of GM’s plan all along, with the automaker streamlining the crossover’s trim level lineup for the 2021 model year by deleting the Premium trim level, leaving the LS and LT as the only remaining Trax trims. Additionally, the Chevy Trax is no longer be offered with the Premium Seating Package for the remainder of the 2022 model year.
As a reminder, the Chevy Trax features is powered by GM’s turbocharged 1.4L I4 LE2 gasoline engine, rated at 155 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. Under the skin is the GM Gamma 2 platform.

I really don't think that 60 day supply rule matters anymore.
Especially when you're talking about a vehicle that has already been announced will end production.
YTD 2021? My calendar says 2022. LOL
