GM Releases ‘No Way, Norway’ Super Bowl Ad Starring Will Ferrell: Video

General Motors has released the full version of its new Super Bowl advertisement starring Will Ferrell after teasing the new EV-focused ad campaign earlier this week.

The new ad campaign stars Hollywood funnyman Will Ferrell as he discovers that the EV adoption rate in the tiny Nordic country of Norway is much higher than in the United States. The campaign is an extension of GM’s previously announced ‘Everybody In’ ad campaign, which aims to raise EV awareness and put the spotlight on GM’s upcoming battery-electric products.

GM released an extended-length 90-second version of the ‘No Way, Norway’ big game ad this week, which is for online audiences only. The extended version of the ad shows Ferell convincing fellow celebrities Keenan Thompson and Awkwafina to join him on a pilgrimage to Norway to learn more about its electric vehicle adoption rate. The ad also features the Cadillac Lyriq show car, which previews the upcoming Lyriq production vehicle that will launch early next year, as well as the GMC Hummer EV.

“Today, General Motors released its big game ad, starring Will Ferrell, who discovers Norway far outpaces the United States in electric vehicle adoption,” GM said in a press release. “In the commercial, “No Way, Norway,” Kenan Thompson and Awkwafina join Ferrell on his action-packed journey to give Norwegians a piece of his mind. A 60-second version of the ad will air during the first quarter.”

GM marketing officer Deborah Wahl said the automaker shares “Norway’s pursuit of an all-electric future,” and believes Super Bowl LV is the perfect venue to promote its new-found focus on EVs.

Norway has the highest per-capita EV ownership rate in the world, with battery-powered vehicles enjoying an impressive 54% market share in the nation. In the U.S., meanwhile, EVs account for just four percent of the market share. GM hopes this will change in the coming years as it introduces more battery-powered cars, trucks, crossovers and SUVs powered by its Ultium batteries and Ultium Drive electric motors.

    • @Nebula

I laughed too, Ferrell catching the arrows in his mouth and then running across the lawn like a pregnant donkey was actually damn funny lol. I think this was a nice look for GM, the market will react.

Also, it's worth noting that Cadillac will also get it's OWN Super Bowl commercial focusing again on the Lyriq as well as SuperCruise 2.0. I also hope they sneak a Celestiq teaser in there somewhere...

  • Interracial agenda-go!

    Enviro-weeny agenda-go!

    Overpaid actor-go!

Sprinkle some " we're Hi IQ" on it..-go!

It just might be an Hollywood agenda commercial....

      • Don't know about that, seems that the push now is minorities have to jump into bed with someone White to be "accepted " is an insult by itself.

          • Who hurt me? Who hurt America? We're not allowed to wear cowboy hats anymore! Brown is Better then White? Your racism is showing.

          • You can wear all the cowboy hats you want you just need to take off the white hood and the tinfoil hat underneath first.

          • Do you know WHY the K3 existed? Do you think it was just because we were "racist" against them? No, it's because THEY were racist against US after you liberals freed them. We had to protect ourselves. They had revenge on their mind. Just like the eco nuts who want to take away our gas cars. Mary is no better then Sherman.

          • Yes steal humans to get things built and lose some of that "leadership" ability in the 1860s by war and 1960s by law is something to be proud of?....

          • We didn't go there and steal them, their own people sold them to us to repay debts. Learn your history!

Whites were indentured servants in America too. We chose to buy out our freedom by working hard and saving money. Why didn't africans?

  • This propaganda campaign to prove Mary right is neither entertaining nor compelling. I am certain there will be an EV onslaught in the coming years but I am more certain they will not be the "be all to end all" they are being mindlessly promoted as. Comparing the numbers of one country to another, the tendencies of one demographic to another is near lunacy. It is truly "apples to oranges" and it is yet to be proven that a country the size of the U.S. can sustain a nation full of BEV's in 15 years or even beyond.
Is gm (laughable new logo) trying to seriously compare the infrastructure needed in Norway to achieve 54% of electric vehicles to what is needed to accomplish that in the U.S. ? Where will the energy come from to power the plants to produce the increased demand for electricity? And even more so where are the buyers?
I am a supporter of electric vehicles. I am excited about them. Mary's little plan to be the leader and flood the roads with them in 15 years? No. GM, excuse me, gm will not make this happen. There will still be plenty of gasoline powered vehicles offered.

    • I'm sorry, you think GM is alone in this decision?, last I checked most automakers are making E/Vs. E/Vs should be a choice in power like gas and diesel but not like the only choice like the current administration thinks they'll succeed in.

GM is a business of course MB will pander with the tide. As soon Biden's history in 4 years it's back to usual but best believe E/Vs are here to stay.

    • Hey, New Ram Owner....did you make that check out to Xi Jinping yet? How do you like the new ownership...Stellantis....I hear that they are quite yellow.

  • It was OK I guess.. but I must say, that Cadillac EV looks amazing... the Hummer eh not so much.

  • I think the goal is ok, but i bet by then it will be a mix of EV and gas. Unless we start building more Nuclear Energy plants we can't make enough to do this with out fossel fuels. The thing is that is not in these commercials is the talk about carbon neutral. That's basically somebody with a lot of money buying carbon credits and polluting all they want. Seems Gm doesn't want to do that. However your politicians will gladly do it and not even care.

    • The greenies never talk about the grid. There will be so many blackouts if militias don't stop EVs leaving the factories.

  • High cost of living in Norway. Big government. Free military from the USA. Totally subsidized country. Can't pay for itself. Nuclear power with no sun. EVs are a pyramid scheme in Norway.

    • Uninformed murican trumpanzee comment. Norway has the happiest people in the world and plenty of freedom, in many cases more than murica. Sure you pay a little more in taxes but you don't go bankrupt with medical bills and your kids can go to college even if you're poor.

  • GM should give out free 300 miles extension cords with every EV. Pull it on a trailer behind you so it can spool out on it's own and push the auto retract button when you get to your destination to suck it back in.

        • Dude, you sure have a lot of great ideas! Why don't you go and take over Venezuela by yourself? We'll be all rooting for you from here!

          • We won't need to invade Venezuela if Trump wins in 24 and opens up fracking again. But if Biden wins again there will be civil war.

    • Where comes your obsession with extension cirds from?

And why do you think this has anything to do with this advrrtisement?

  • Since my last comment calling out the lack of moderating hasn’t been taken out of review yet, let me try again: Can someone start removing these Parler rejects from the comments section? One just threatened to attack an EV plant. You do realize the website can be held liable if GM wanted to file a lawsuit, right?

    • Andy
If you’re going to attack an EV plant, Irony demands it be done on horseback with a lance dressed as Don Quixote.

      • You liberals won't laugh when January 6 happens at EV factories. Patriots aren't going to let Mary and Biden ruin America.

        • You threaten a new Civil War? And just to prevent more efficient motors to be used?

Karl Marx once noted something to the effect that any such historical event happens twice: the first time as tragedy, the second time as a farce.

  • I despise the looney whacky left as much as the racist, religious wannabe extreme right. No fake "we're in this together " media but exclude genuine conservative voices from libs nor "minorities must worship WASPs otherwise your 'racist' " isn't any better either from NeCons. End rant, I like the E/Vs but it shouldn't be all, end all.

    • When was the last time Fox or Breitbart was "racist"? CNN & Huffinglue Post is racist against whites all the time.

You say you like EVs but they shouldn't be for everybody well tell that to Mary of wait, you can't she's in bed with Biden having a 3 way with that chimp VP.
