Chip Ganassi Racing Reveals New Cadillac DPi-V.R Livery For 2021

Chip Ganassi Racing has revealed the look of its new Cadillac DPi-V.R prototype that ex-Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen will race alongside teammate Renger Van Der Zande this year.

The American team’s Cadillac DPi-V.R features a white base with black, grey and red accents. The livery was shown with no sponsorship branding, apart from the Cadillac, Michelin and VP Racing Fuels logos that all Cadillac DPi-V.R entries feature.

While Magnussen and Van Der Zande will serve as the full-season drivers, DPi teams usually add two additional drivers for endurance events like the upcoming Rolex 24 at Daytona. IndyCar star Scott Dixon has been confirmed as the team’s third driver for the Rolex 24, but it’s not clear if a fourth driver will join them, nor if Dixon will stick with the team for other endurance races this year, like the 12 Hours of Sebring for example.

“We are very excited to welcome Chip Ganassi Racing to the Cadillac competition family,” Cadillac VP Rory Harvey said of the Ganassi Cadillac effort last year. “Their success across many forms of racing, including sports cars, will be a great addition to our IMSA WeatherTech line-up. Chip’s pedigree at winning the Rolex 24 At Daytona eight times as well as their championships in this form of racing gives Cadillac another stalwart team to compete for the 2021 IMSA DPi championship.”

Magnussen isn’t the only big name in racing that will pilot a Cadillac DPi-V.R in the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson will share one of the V8-powered prototypes with Kamui Kobayashi, Simon Pagenaud and Mike Rockenfeller in the race as well, with backing coming from longtime Johnson sponsor Ally Financial.

The 2021 Rolex 24 Hour will kick off on January 30th, 2021.
