10 Percent Of Chevy Trailblazer Buyers Choose Activ Trim

General Motors reintroduced the Chevy Trailblazer nameplate in North America as an all-new small crossover for the 2021 model year, offering a “uniquely youthful, yet functional alternative” in the highly popular segment. Sitting alongside the RS at the top of the trim level lineup is the Trailblazer Activ, which is framed as an ideal pick for those buyers looking to use their new crossover for outdoor lifestyle activities. Now, Chevrolet has announced that one in 10 new Trailblazer owners opted for the Activ trim.

For those who may be unaware, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer Activ features a number of unique touches and upgrades over the rest of the trim level lineup. Outside, the Activ receives a two-tone roof treatment (the RS also gets a two-tone roof) with standard roof rails, as well as a revised front fascia with improved ground clearance. What’s more, the Activ is equipped as standard with 17-inch High Gloss Black aluminum wheels, which are wrapped in Hankook Sport Terrain tires to more confidently propel the Trailblazer off-road thanks to an aggressive shoulder design and all-season tread pattern.

To that end, the Chevy Trailblazer Activ also comes equipped with unique off-road suspension tuning, while underneath, we find a functional skid plate to protect vital mechanical components. Moving to the rear, the Trailblazer Activ rocks standard LED taillights, as well as a dual-outlet exhaust treatment with trapezoidal polished outlets.

The upgrades continue inside the cabin, where the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is equipped with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-wrapped shift knob, as well as a rear center armrest.

With regard to the greasy bits, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer runs the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T engine as standard, which produces 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque, and connects to a continuously variable automatic transmission in FWD configuration, or a nine-speed automatic when matched with AWD. Elsewhere in the lineup, the Trailblazer is equipped with the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH engine.

  • They should have a trim level more that reflects the economic sanctions and travel restrictions placed on many Americans in California, New York, Illinois, Michigan, etc.

The Trailblazer Quarantine Edition. Or the Trailblazer Couch Potato.

  • "improved ground clearance" there are 8 inches of ground clearance in the Active trim, opposed to 7.5 in other AWD trims. I'm kind of bummed the actual measurements weren't included in the article. (Motortrend journalist actually look stuff like that up and include the info in the article)

When is GM going to equip the Teeb with real-time AWD as opposed to having to remember to push a button to activate? Like really, is it the 1980's, what next have to get out and manually lock hubs on the thing too?

      • Well just think of the one time someone forgets to turn in on and gets in an accident. I feel like almost all awd vehicles in this class have some type of real time or automatic awd engagement. It's just another, in a long line of penny pinching mistakes on this vehicle, which will ensure low market share. I was excited for this platform, but gm has really muffed the punt.

  • The wheels are the #1 attraction on these types of autos, GM should throw a few more dollars on the wheel line-up of this vehicle, most young people especially young guys look at the wheels first.

  • This is like the RS trim vs the SS. All looks but no real off road ability added.

These are FWD based models that are not even close to the ability of the Trackers of the 80’s.

GM needs to let these models be just what they are CUV models that are great on road and for utility.

If GM wants a life style activity vehicle they really need to build one.

The sales of the Mustang and Camaro are moving to vehicles like the trucks and Jeep’s. People are buying these, lifting, wheels and accessorizing them to reflect their life style and desire.

While GM has a good vehicle it is not what they claim it to be and it is not going to take up the sales in the real life style vehicles.
