General Motors has already filled all available reservation slots it had for the new GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 pickup truck.
The automaker opened reservations for the new GMC Hummer EV shortly after the truck’s unveiling on Tuesday evening, charging customers $100 to reserve their slot on the waiting list. Before the end of the night, GM had sold out of the limited number of GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 models, which will come loaded up with virtually every available option and cost an eye-popping $112,595.
The GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 is the model variant pictured in the press photos being circulated of the new battery-electric truck. The Edition 1 trim, which is offered exclusively with the 1,000 horsepower tri-motor powertrain, will only be available in white with a contrasting black roof, bronze wheels and a ‘Lunar Horizon’ interior with Edition 1 badges. The truck will also come standard with available adaptive air suspension with Extract Mode, which raises the suspension by up to eight inches.
While GM is sold out of GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 models for now, prospective customers can still be added to the waiting list, the automaker says. All they have to do is reserve another available trim level and click the waitlist box on the reservation form. GM will then reach out to those on the waitlist if an Edition 1 reservation holder backs out and a vehicle becomes available.
GM Authority reached out to GM to get production numbers for the GMC Hummer EV and for the Edition 1 trim, but the automaker said it is not willing to share production figures at this time. It’s hard to gauge just high the demand was for the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 is without knowing how many GM managed to sell out of, but the initial response to the truck does seem fairly strong.
The GMC Hummer EV will be built at the GM Factory Zero facility, formerly known as GM Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly, and is expected to begin arriving at dealerships in 2021 for the 2022 model year. Customers can reserve an available trim level via GMC’s website.

"GM had sold out of the limited number of GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 models". Please don't act as Tesla fanboys, because a reservation is NOT A SALE! And we all know that some reservations will be cancelled before production begins since not everyone will wait that long, or a competition product is announced. As proof, some Cybertrucks reservations will be cancelled and redirected to the GMC Hummer EV.
Why did you feel the need to reiterate what was stated in the article?
This makes me proud, but I must admit that the pricing is slightly ridiculous. a top tier cyber truck starts out at 70k while a base hummer is 80k with half the miles. Not that I actually care because I'm sticking with the hummer but just saying. I'll definitely be buying a hummer in the future. Then again the hummer looks better to me imo. and it should dominate everything offroad.
I would like to see the Cybertruck take on Rubicon. The Hummer isn't designed to take on the Cybertruck. The Hummer goes after the Raptor. The Hummer does sit on the BT1 platform however. And there will be a Chevrolet version using this platform in a few years. That will likely be the model that will compare to the Cybertruck.
the $113K model arrives in about a year. the $90K model arrives in spring 2023. the base $80K version comes out in spring 2024.
meanwhile, rivian will offer a $70K truck in summer 2021. if that doesn't include the 7500 federal tax credit, you are looking at low 60s.
that's a problem.
Ok Steve. Piss off to Rivian authority then.
how do you think i ended up here??? Jeff at rivianauthority told me to piss off to gmauthority!!!
First he complained about GM not having EVs, now GM have EV and its still not good......
never complained about gm not having ev's.
i've complained about gm charging more for less.
i've complained about gm having a mindset stuck in the 60's.
i've complained about gm's crappy interiors.
but lack of ev's ... no.
"gm having a mindset stuck in the 60’s.".
50-60% marketshare, innovation, biggest employer in the US?. GM needs more of that.
but they are not that company today.
they seem completely oblivious to the fact that the rest of the world has caught up.
japan passed them decades ago as far as delivering a superior product. today, the koreans deliver more for less. next up will be the chinese.
maybe EVs will be their best chance to transform the company.
but they are not going to do it with a $113K suv or a $40K bolt. nobody wants a $40K bolt and very few can afford a $113K suv. and the $80K "affordable" version doesn't come out for another 3.5 years? the only explanation for that is EVs are still a money pit for gm.
Nobody is forcing you to come here and spill teenage-like emotions of GM. "Their products suck", good go to brand X, will Japan and Korea catch GM in development?, probably but not soon.
Tesla don't make money on cars only on SpaceX so YouTtube virgin nerds can gawk how great they are. GM is doing great on their ICE cars and trucks here and internationally and starting up their EV program while using ICE money to develop EVs. Too bad GM don't meet "your" standard on car development.
Except you're off by a year with Rivian production date. Due to Covid-19, Rivian production has been delayed until summer of 2022. Additionally, Rivian hasn't been in production before so hard to say how smoothly that will go.
Finally, isn't the $70k figure tied to a base level Rivian? I'd guess different buyers for each since you're comparing a base level versus a fully loaded model. Don't really see there being an issue except in your mind and you're likely not a buyer for either model.
rivian hasn't been delayed to 2022. they delayed it summer 2021.
originally they were going to bring out at the end of this year.
you are right about not being interested in an EV truck.
Got my 1st Edition on order so we will see. I still can’t believe that the Tesla will really look like that. Initially I thought it was just a slap on body just to introduce the drive train and attract investors with a shiny object. That could still be true but I just couldn’t buy something that looks like that. I would have preferred the SUV body to come out first but who knows when it will really come out. The C8 was projected to be. 4-6 month wait and it took 15 months to get one.
How many in 1st edition? I heard 50. No wonder it sold out!
Exactly. Unless you state how many you plan to build, "sold out" is just a PR play, nothing more.
a $100 reservation on a $100K truck is meaningless.
Where is GM assembly and manufacturing capacity? And the 500 miles version? The Hummer is such an AWESOME truck, why wait 2024 to a $80k SUT? It looks like Tesla things.
because even at $80K, they are losing money.
Does this have portal axles?
Clearly most of you missed the word "Limited" in the article. I hear not even a hundred will be built. None of us will be able to afford it so I really don't understand the tears of joy over a rich man's toy. I can't believe GM is doing this grandstanding nonsense instead of building something to compete with the Bronco and Wrangler. Glad I'm not gullible enough to fall for this nonsense.
Was the Hummer ever a cheap vehicle. I don't know why people thought they were going to get a $50K Hummer.
Cool truck, but the price is not realistic for most.
