Buyers of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will find a newin the truck’s doorjamb that shows its max towing rating.
Although it seems minute, the label provides clarity since each 2019 Silverado could potentially boast a slightly different max rating. The label’s information takes powertrain and tow and trailer packages information into account.
The label will also include the truck’s gross vehicle weight rating, gross combined weight rating, curb weight, maximum payload and more.
Chevrolet says the label is an industry first and will clearly show how two identically equipped trucks could tow less or more based on optional equipment. One pickups may have a lower max tow rating if premium amenities like a sunroof, upgraded infotainment system and other goodies are onboard even if they boast an identical powertrain.
The towing VIN label is one of many new features Chevrolet hopes makes towing simpler with the 2019 Silverado. Every Silverado will have myChevrolet smartphone app functionality. The app will provide a checklist for drivers to ensure the truck is ready to tow and issue a glossery of towing terms for towing newbies. The 2019 Silverado will also offer an Advanced Trailering System that includes auto parking brake assist, hitch guidance with hitch view and a trailer tire pressure monitoring system.

This is a great idea, and frankly, long overdue in the industry. I've seen too many people dangerously overload their vehicles, this should at least provide clarity and help in doing easy capacity calculations if you don't have scales at your disposal.
It will be interesting if U-Haul will start to use this information or continue to violate manufacturers tow ratings
I just bought this rig for towing our 21 ft RV, and it's a smooth ride.
