Maven City Car-Sharing Launches In Toronto, Ontario

General Motors’ Maven car-sharing service has expanded to a new North American city: Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Toronto, Ontario’s capital, is the largest city in the country by population, and the fourth-largest on the continent. This means that from now on, nearly three-million more North Americans will have easy access to Maven City roundtrip car-sharing, and each Maven car will, on average, take about ten privately-owned Toronto cars off the road, reducing congestion.

To start, Maven will offer 40 different vehicle models, including the Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Volt, Cadillac ATS, and Cadillac XT5. There are no signup or membership fees, and rates start as low as $9 per hour (in Canadian dollars), gas and insurance included.

“Bringing Maven car sharing to Toronto not only reduces congestion, but also represents the latest step in the development of General Motors’ mobility footprint in Canada,” says GM Canada President and Managing Director Steve Carlisle. “The launch of Maven follows the recent opening of our Canadian Technical Centre-Markham Campus, the largest automotive technology development centre of its kind in Canada, and furthers our ability to bring new solutions to existing problems and redefine the future of mobility in Toronto and beyond.”

Today, with the addition of Toronto, GM’s Maven car-sharing service is available in 16 different markets, with still more locations on the way for 2018. Apart from Maven City, additional services like Maven Home and Maven Gig are also offered.
