Maven Gig Launches In Australia

General Motors is taking its Maven personal-mobility brand to the land down under. Maven Gig has officially launched in Australia.

Just like in its initial California markets, Maven Gig will provide users with a vehicle for freelance work, or “side gigs” as the kids like to say, for a little as $215 AUD per week. Maven Gig will first launch in Melbourne and Sydney, but the brand is eying additional markets to bring the car-sharing service to even more people.

Following a pilot program at GM Holden’s headquarters, 350 Maven Gig users have registered to date, and that number is expected to grow with an official launch. Users can grab a set of wheels for whatever freelance work asks of them, such as deliveries through Uber Eats, or Uber use in general.

A fleet of Holden vehicles has been made available for the launch of Maven Gig, though what specific cars are available is unknown at this time. We imagine as the Holden Equinox and Holden Acadia launch, they’ll be incorporated into the fleet.
