Holden had already confirmed the 2015 Insignia VXR as the latest installation of Opel-sourced products for the Australian lineup, and you can officially get your hands on what Holden says marks “fresh territory” for the brand’s long-established performance credentials.
Holden has launched the 2015 Insignia VXR for Australian, and New Zealand, consumption. The launch event took place on snow-covered proving ground roads in New Zealand, with none other than V8 Supercars champion James Courtney behind the wheel. Holden says Courtney will serve as the vehicle’s ambassador, and demonstrated the 2015 Insignia VXR’s capability on the icy roads.
“Ice driving has been an awesome experience and I am really impressed with what the Insignia VXR is capable of doing” Courtney said. “It’s an exciting and engaging drive experience with a great AWD system that provides fantastic traction and ensures all 320 hp are delivered to the driven wheels.”
Those 320 ponies come from the 2015 Insignia VXR’s 2.8-liter turbocharged V6 engine, and are coupled with 320 lb-ft of torque. The adaptive all-wheel drive system works in concert with the Flexride chassis control system to serve up sublime capability in any conditions.
The 2015 Holden Insignia VXR is the third of many incoming products for the Holden brand, which include 24 new models and 36 new powertrain combinations over the next five years. Holden’s executive director, Peter Keley, said the Insignia VXR was a step forward for future Holden performance and technology.
“Holden is committed to leveraging GM’s global product portfolio to source the best cars for Australia and Insignia VXR is the perfect embodiment of that,” said Keley.
“Insignia VXR combines engaging driving performance with a range of advanced safety features and an exciting infotainment system, blended together with world renowned European build quality.”
The 2015 Insignia VXR can be found on local Holden dealer lots now.

Just don't ask Mr. Courtney about that HSV V8 frowning around the corner of his McMansion. He proudly drives the front-based AWD Insignia now.
