Chevrolet Hires Ford’s Former Social Media Manager

Craig Daitch began this week as Chevrolet‘s new senior manager for social media. He previously was vice president of digital marketing strategy at SapientNitro (working on the the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles account) and, before that, he worked at Ford in a similar capacity.

According to Automotive News, Chevrolet plans to have him promote “a more consistent social media strategy, creating content that bolsters the brand’s new-vehicle launches, racing activities and communications initiatives.” Says Daitch, “In an always-on world, everything communicates. Social media has changed the way the automotive industry approaches access to their brand, their business and the consumers they seek to build relationships with.”

Along with a more cohesive strategy, Chevrolet aims to place more emphasis on improving the its social media presence. GM’s senior vice president of communications Tony Cervone told AN, “The social space − online media, blogs, YouTube, the numerous apps, etc. − is largely where key conversations are taking place and where content is shared. “We need to continue to learn how to engage in an authentic and relevant way. Having people on board who can help us bridge to this increasingly important space is critical to our long-term communications success.”
