Holden has announced the introduction of the sporty RS trim line for the Barina (Chevrolet Sonic) in Austrailia.
The Holden Barina RS is set apart from standard models by its sports body kit, larger rear spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels and an exclusive paint color: Orange Rock. Inside, the RS features a flat bottom steering wheel and sportier RS branded seats. But perhaps more importantly, the re-worked suspension tuning.
The Barina RS also comes with a 1.4L turbocharged four-pot like the Sonic RS, churning out 103kW at 4,900rpm and 200Nm at 1,850 rpm.
Small tweaks unique to the Barina RS from the base model include an Australia-only electric power steering tune done by Holden’s engineers. The engineering team has been involved in thousands of kilometers of testing and development and is now testing the Barina RS on public roads prior to the cars release in November.
GM says full specifications and pricing for the Barina RS will be available at launch.
