Ad Break: The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Is “Strong”

Remember the classic “Like a Rock” Chevrolet Silverado commercials of yesteryear? You know how people still attach to that powerful slogan and Bob Seger song? Well, this new 2014 Silverado ad has a similar feel as that vintage campaign that everybody loves, but is unique in its own way.

Titled “Strong,” the spot features an original song by the same name from Grammy award-nominated artist country music Will Hoge, with most folks in the video being real Chevrolet owners, and not professional actors. And while we’re giving you an early look, the 2014 Silverado campaign won’t launch until July 4. Because America. You must watch this ad.

Here’s the extended version:

  • It's a great ad, but from a marketing perspective it's not. Where's the interior shots? The interior is, in my opinion, the biggest change to the truck. They need to showcase its design and utility.

    • Sound like you vagina is leaking weak sauce to me... Girly. Leave interior design to your wife. This is about being strong! If your dick is real small you could always get the 2500

  • Love the truck, It looks better in person than in pictures, I just saw them this weekend at a dealership. It kind of looks like the one built in the 80's. The only issue I have is that GM is spending hundreds of millions in Mejico to upgrade the plants to build it. So make sure you check the vehicle identification number before you buy.

      • Sadly, every one of these new trucks I've seen on the lot are from Mexico...Hopefully they get Ft. Wayne and Flint on board sooner than later.
But I'll stick with my 2013 2500HD Duramax built in Ft. Wayne, thanks!

        • Silao was the first plant online, which explains why you see more Mexico trucks right now. Fort Wayne is next and will be launching full production soon. Flint is next. With a launch this big, it needs to be staggered.

These are the same 3 plants that produce the 2012 trucks, nothing new here, move along...

      • Believe me. My Trailblazer was made in the US, and my 2011 Camaro was built in Canada. My previous Camaro (91) was built in the US. I don' mind too much buying stuff from other countries, but if I can get it "Made in the USA" I will.

    • Actually, if I did buy one I would check. GM used to have some 6 or 7 assembly plants for pickups and SUVs, including 1 in Ontario and 1 in Mexico. Now it is down to 4; Fort Wayne, Flint, Silao, and Arlington. Arlington is making only SUVs these days. Silao, Mexico is the first plant to receive the new pickup, so all 2014 Silverados are Mexican in final assembly.

But we need to remember that Mexicans and Canadians do buy GM product, so it only makes sense for GM to produce some there.

  • My sources have the trucks for our market being built in Flint Michigan, and Fort Wayne Indiana.

  • well finally got to see the new trucks in town very impressed gm did their homework on this one the fact that they as big as the old HD 's an get the mileage they do is impressive. its nice to look under them after reading all the bs about gm frames hanging down an realize if you are dragging anything on this truck it shouldn't be out there that's what 4wheelers are for good work GM

  • They missed the city kid with a Browning logo, 'Truck Yeah', and 'Dirty Max' stickers on the rear window and BassPro hat on the dash.

  • I love the new Chevy truck commercial featuring the woman and her horse. Nice job appealing to your female customers. As a woman who has owned a Chevy truck for years, I get tired of being asked daily if my husband let me borrow his truck for he day. I use my Chevy truck to pull MY race car to the track as well as my husband's. Trucks (and racing...whether horses or cars) aren't just for men. Nice to see that recognized. And by the way, I LOVE my Chevy truck!
