2014 Chevrolet Silverado High Country: This Is It

For years, Chevy truck enthusiasts have been asking the Bow Tie brand for a luxurious trim level of the ever-popular Silverado… something that’s more unique and luxurious than the top-of-the-line LTZ trim level. And for about a year now, we’ve been hearing about an upcoming trim level for the new K2XX-based 2014 Silverado called “High Country”. In fact, we’ve even seen spy shots of the truck. Today, the waiting and guessing games are over, as Chevrolet has officially announced the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado High Country.

The top-of-the-line trim level broadens Chevrolet’s portfolio in the premium pickup segment, and will join the LTZ and Z71 models in the Silverado lineup this fall. The High Country is distinguished by several unique features inside and out.

Silverado High Country Exterior

The exterior of the Silverado High Country features a unique chrome grille with horizontal chrome bars, halogen projector headlamps and body-color front and rear bumpers. P275/55R20 all-season tires wrap unique 20-inch chrome wheels, which are complemented by chrome body side moldings, door handles and mirrors.

Silverado High Country Interior

The interior of the Silverado High Country contains a higher level of premium features and materials with a rich, Western themed appearance. An exclusive saddle brown interior and authentic materials can be found throughout the cabin.

Amenities include heated and cooled perforated premium leather front bucket seats with High Country logos on the headrests, Chevrolet MyLink infotainment with an 8-inch color touch screen, Bose premium audio, as well as park assist (front and rear).

Silverado High Country Powertrain

The standard engine in the Silverado High Country is GM’s all-new 5.3L EcoTec3 V8. The eight-banger is SAE-certified at 355 horsepower (250 kW) and delivers class-leading V8 fuel economy of up to 23 mpg highway (in 2WD models). Those who want more power will be able to opt for the all-new 6.2L EcoTec3 V8.

Part of the new EcoTec3 engine family, both engines feature power-enhancing and fuel-saving features such as direct fuel injection, continuously variable valve timing, and Active Fuel Management — which allows both powerplants to seamlessly switch to four-cylinder mode to save fuel during light-load driving.

Silverado High Country Options

Given that the Silverado High Country offers a high level of standard equipment, only a few options will be available on the flagship Chevy truck. These include:

  • 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine
  • Chrome rear bumper with CornerStep
  • Integrated trailer brake controller
  • Sunroof
  • Navigation
  • Rear-seat entertainment system

The optional High Country Premium Package offers a heated steering wheel, driver alert package, adjustable pedals, and integrated trailer brake controller.

The GM Authority Take

The High Country seems to be a direct competitor to the F-150 King Ranch, while the upcoming 2014 Sierra Denali will take on The Blue Oval’s (more blinged-out) Platinum/Limited editions.

  • I was hoping push start, HID or Led headlights and led all around would be standard for this trim, but sadly it's not even available.
